Bluefin Topminnow
Scientific Name: Lucania goodei
Range: Southern United States
Temperature: Below 76 degrees Fahrenheit
Physical characteristics: Males are smaller with a bright blue dorsal fin and a bright orange or red caudal fin. Females have clear fins.
Breeding: Aquatic plant-spawners. Eggs take two weeks to hatch. Fry will take newly hatched brine shrimp and microworms.

 

White's Pearlfish
Scientific Name: Nematolebias whitei
Range: Southeast Brazil
Temperature: Mid-60s to mid-70s
Physical characteristics: Can grow to 3 inches. Pearly white spangles cover the male's body.
Breeding: Substrate-spawners. Store eggs in peat in a plastic bag in a cool place for three to four months. Hatch eggs in cool dechlorinated water. Feed fry newly hatched brine shrimp and microworms.

 

Spanish Toothcarp
Scientific Name: Aphianus iberius
Range: Spanish coast
Temperature: Up to 85 degrees (for spawning)
Physical characteristics: Grow to about 2 inches
Breeding: Mop-spawners. Eggs hatch in about a week. Feed fry newly hatched brine shrimp.

Scientific Name: Epiplatys dageti dageti
Range: West Africa
Temperature: Mid- to upper 70s
Physical ch
aracteristics: Grow to about 3 inches. Bold black bands on a bluish-gray body. Males have a deep orange to red chin and breast.
Breeding: Eggs hatch in about 10 days. Feed fry microworms or powdered foods.

 

Golden Wonder Killie
Scientific Name: Aplochelius lineatus
Range: India
Temperature: Upper 70s
Physical characteristics: Grow to about 4 inches. Yellow body with red highlights.
Breeding: Spawn daily in floating plants or mops. Eggs hatch in about two weeks. Feed newly hatched brine shrimp.
