Blobfish are often caught in bottom trawling nets and because of this, it is feared that the species may become endangered. The blobfish lacks flesh and is comprised primarily of a gelatinous mass, like other blobby material, hence its name. The fish's mass is so dense that it doesn't need to swim much, but rather, it bobs around the water column, eating crustaceans and other invertebrates that swim its way.
