An Ebola-like virus, viral hemorrhagic septicemia, first seen two years ago, has now reached Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron, and is expected to reach Lake Michigan. The virus has also been identified in the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Niagara River.
The deadly virus causes fish to swell until blood is pushed out of their eyes, causing them to bleed to death.
Officials are worried the virus will continue to spread at a tremendous rate when the water warms up in mid-May.
