Recently, I had the opportunity to experiment with the husbandry and propagation of an exciting species of coral, Duncanopsammia axifuga, or whisker coral. In the trade, it is generally referred to by its genus name, rather than its species name; it is generally offered for sale as just Duncanopsammia. Because this coral hasn’t historically been readily available, I was really excited to acquire a few colonies. Indeed, given its rarity, not much has been published about this coral’s captive-care requirements, and I thought it would be appropriate to share my experiences with it here.
