The National Coral Reef Institute

What is the NCRI?

By Wendy Wood

Through research, training and education, the National Coral Reef Institute works toward a goal of coral reef conservation, and focuses on providing the best science to coral reef managers (e.g., a superintendent of a national or state park where the primary resource is a coral reef) in order to protect this precious resource. Assessment, monitoring and restoration of coral reefs worldwide contributes to this goal, as does the education of master’s and Ph.D. students, by providing future coral reef scientists and managers with the quantitative tools they need to ensure that coral reefs survive for future generations.
