Coldwater aquariums may be the next big thing in the aquarium hobby. A growing interest has emerged in this area for many reasons. What has been overlooked in the hobby is now being looked upon with interest.
What is "Coldwater"?
A coldwater aquarium is really a poor term. A better term would be something like a temperate aquarium or a coastal aquarium or a Northeast Atlantic aquarium or any other descriptive term. These aquariums feature plants and animals found in the nontropical parts of the world and are therefore much cooler (temperature-wise that is). Instead of being kept at around 76 degrees Fahrenheit, these aquariums are maintained at closer to 60 degrees and sometimes down to 50 degrees.
