Notes From ACA

Normally, when reminiscing about a fish show I’ve recently attended, I’ll go on about wonderful speakers and great vendors — and this year’s American Cichlid Association Conference had both. However, this time I’d like to tell you about my nominee for ACA showstopper: Rick Biro’s 300-gallon Tanganyikan community setup, with its 125 cichlids of various species. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. The top, middle and bottom zones of the tank all had their occupiers. Some fish hovered in place. Some busily excavated craterlike spawning bowers, and still others spent the bulk of their time on rocky angled slopes. It was the best “reality show” I’ve seen in quite some time.

For more ACA musings and a slide show, go to my “Ebb and Flow” exclusive and check out “Fish Show That Almost Wasn’t,” Parts 1 and 2.

Also, I’d like to thank anyone who participated through Facebook or our FishChannel forums for sending in their questions for a special webinar. In this webinar, experts at San Francisco Bay Brand answered your questions about frozen fish foods — click here to view it.
