A Charming Chalceus

With the pink-tailed chalceus, what you see is usually what you get — and that’s a good thing.

Often, a drawback to the aquarium hobby is deciding if what you are looking at in dealer tanks is what you are going to get. Sometimes, fish look more bland or muted in coloration than you see in photographs. Sometimes, natural behaviors are difficult to ascertain as store fish are generally kept in bare, overcrowded and stressful environments. Preferably, you know enough about aquarium keeping and fish care that when you bring the fish home, you will counteract the aforementioned negativity. Fortunately, with this article’s subject, the pink-tailed chalceus (Chalceus macrolepidotus), what you see is most often what you get.
