The reality is that we present a greater danger to the fish and invertebrates in our care than they do to us. As aquarists, we exercise a godlike control over the environmental conditions of the animals we keep. Rarely do these animals harm us, and only a tiny percentage of such events require professional medical attention.
If keeping dangerous animals, the aquarist must take proper precautions. Many of these animals display fascinating behaviors or brilliant colors, making them appealing to hobbyists. Realistically, some require special care, and others are simply too dangerous — and these probably do not belong in most home aquariums at all.
