My preferred method is to have an outside aquarium set up at all times, and allow it to cultivate algae naturally. I just pull out a wad of hair algae, drop it into the fry tank, and they pick at it like crazy! The outside tank is so easy to maintain, water changes are done with the garden hose and the water drains and feeds the lawn...and an undergravel filter with powerheads is virtually maintenance free.

Great I will try it, I thought you could use a potato too.

Good set of slides. Would have been good to inform what could go wrong or the warning signs to look out for when the culture turns rancid, for example a bad smell etc.
