The Fish Food Issue

We hope you’re enjoying the magazine’s new look (last month was the first issue for our redesign). This month, we have our food issue, which includes a special Product Showcase that has all food items. Be sure to check out aquarium biologist Jen Reynolds’ article “A Look at Fish Nutrition” for some great info on fish nutrition, including some information about the role of vitamins in fish health. At the end of the article, you’ll also find information on how to get to an online slideshow explaining how to make infusoria — a great food for a lot of baby fish. Our authors often mention the use of infusoria, so we hope this will be a good resource to get you started on making some of this food.

Also, we recently attended the Reefapalooza show held at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California, where there were a bunch of frags for sale. The weather was great, and there were some good speakers in attendance, including AFI writer and photographer Scott W. Michael. It was encouraging to see that the show had a good turnout.

For those “armchair fish collectors,” this month we have “Highlights of a Trip to Gabon” by David Armitage. In this article, the author describes some of the species he encountered while traveling in Gabon (specifically to see fish, of course), and he also had a chance to see some of his favorite Ctenopoma along the way. And don’t forget the clown loach and rabbitfish articles, too!
