If your tetra loses color and its red stripe, it may have neon tetra disease. Other symptoms include improper swimming. This disease may also infect barbs.

Wow, one of my oldest Neon Tetra is loosing it's color. The others are fine it's just that one and its funny cause he or she is still going on. Which is good.
