Algae-eating Fish

Platys eat algae

Some algae eaters will suck algae off other fish, sometimes hurting them. Platys will occasionally eat algae and won't suck on other species.

I had a terrible problem with brown algae. My Pets Mart guy recommended a Plecostomas, and the problem is 100% completely gone! This fish works 24/7 and is one of the best solutions to a problem I have ever had. What a workhorse fish! Highly recommended.

That is very cool. I've kept Platies before but never had algae growing to see this act in action.
