Expand your tropical fish vocabulary with the FishChannel.com Tropical Fish Word of the Day.

Powerhead: (n.) A powerhead is a device that resembles a fan that creates a current in an aquarium (also called submersible water pump or propeller pump). One pump can be placed in a freshwater rheophile aquarium (for fish that like fast-moving water) or two pumps on opposite ends of the aquarium to create enough water flow for corals in a reef aquarium.
