Calcium reactor: (n.) A calcium reactor is a piece of aquarium equipment made of contact towers filled with calcium carbonate-based materials similar in composition to coral skeletons. It is used to supplement calcium, natural buffers and other trace elements in reef aquariums. Media, such as aragonite, slowly dissolves and doses the calcium into the aquarium.
