Berlin method: (n.) A type of reefkeepping setup that includes filtration from protein skimmers and live rock, regular additions of kalkwasser, buffer and trace elements, and the absence of a trickle filter. Calcium reactors are often used with these systems because they eliminate the need for large frequent additions of supplements.
