Karen Talbot, a scientific illustrator and conservation artist from Laguna Beach, CA made an appearance at Reef-A-Palooza 2011 in Costa Mesa CA., where she painted, over the course of two days, a milletseed butterflyfish (Chaetodon miliaris). To prepare, Talbot spent time scuba diving off Hawaii, where the fish is endemic, to observe its colors in its natural habitat.
