Conservation artist and scientific illustrator Karen Talbot paints a milletseed butterflyfish at Reef-A-Palooza 2011.
Karen Talbot, a scientific illustrator and conservation artist from Laguna Beach, Calif. made an appearance at Reef-A-Palooza 2011 in Costa Mesa Calif., where she painted, over the course of two days, a milletseed butterflyfish (Chaetodon miliaris). To prepare, Talbot spent time scuba diving off Hawaii, where the fish is endemic, to observe its colors in its natural habitat.
