I wanted to give an update on the post about our new bubble-tip anemone. It still looks healthy, which is a good thing. Its color is dark, its mouth is closed nice and tight with no gaping, and it’s well-inflated with bubbled-up tips. It’s eaten well the few times we’ve fed it. It has also stopped moving around and is settled in one spot, which would be a good thing if that spot wasn’t on the back wall of the tank about 2 inches below the waterline.
This is not a great spot for it to live, so I’m going to mess with the direction of the flow coming off the powerheads. I’m hoping that by creating annoying flow in the nem’s direction that it will move to a better spot.
Also, I’m really surprised that our clownfish hasn’t taken to the anemone much, other than the occasional face nuzzle. I know hosting can be hit or miss, depending on the species of the clownfish and the anemone, but our clownfish is usually host crazy (it’s hosting a torch coral right now). It could be the nem’s location, so hopefully we can encourage a bit of a move.
