This is the scene I’m hoping to see when I log on to view our aquarium webcam. A full tank, happy fish and no problems!
I mentioned in another blog post that my fiancé Jeff and I are a little nervous about leaving our tank for three weeks while we are away for our wedding and honeymoon. Although we trust our tank sitter, he doesn’t know very much about reef tanks, so if a problem occurred while we were gone, he might not recognize it, which could turn into a catastrophe. Jeff approached me the other night with a great solution. He said he’s going to set up a webcam on the tank!

Let me tell you, there is no way I would ever tackle such a technological task myself, but luckily, Jeff is a whiz at those types of things. He’s going to set up the camera so we can log on to our computer at any time and not only see the tank and its inhabitants, but also the pH monitor and temperature readout.

Ah, technology. I can’t explain the peace of mind a webcam will give me. I tend to be a bit of a worrywart about everything, especially the tank. Just knowing I can log on whenever I want and see that the tank is still standing and hasn’t shot up to 85 degrees will make our trip that much more enjoyable.

Now, if I could just set up a webcam for my fiancé’s upcoming bachelor party in Las Vegas … (just kidding, of course!).

Totally understand the need to take care of fish while away... So, I built TankedCam... Not just a webcam. Feed the fish, adjust aeration, monitor temps and pH, etc.
