Well, pretty bad. All but one danio died to that Danio Disease, and then my fave angel died, so his partner died the next day, and then my single most precious fish, Whirlaway, died. Which is a shame, since the WHOLE TANK WAS MADE AND STOCKED... FOR HER. Then I went to the fry tank, and her daughter was dead.
As I was doing a WC today I realized how spoiled the other fish are. I mean, of course, Cheerful has no other danios to school with, Knikky has to females to impress, and the flametail guppy has no males to start a family with (of course, this may be quite a relief for HER!), but think about it. Four inches of fish in a 20 long, meaning that that they take up 4/30 of water surface-fish percentage. Each individual fish has a 10-gallon tank's worth of water surface, and to top that all off, they get water changes every day to their now clean, clear tank!Come visit me, Sneeze's Tank, Narnia (seriously, the fish are starting to talk), Rainbow and Moondust & The Fry tank.

Knick Knack is like an orangish-yellow, and i always thought of him as not particularly gorgeous. then i saw that he has a lovely iridescent shine to him, and has never been mean to Whirl yet. The only problem is that his "sword" is deformed/was injured and healed funny.
You're prob thinking "why'dja choose a sword with a bad genetic defect (potentialy?"
Cuz he was athe warrantee replacement for Tick Tock tICK Tock, and Knikky was the only sword left at the time. But i love him.
I wasn't able to name that mystery disease. Basically it's just The Mysterious Disease that Strikes in the Night and Causes Danios to Linger For Days and Then Die. Oh well. So, I was scared I'd have one danio left because Solitaire started to fade and hang out by the plant, but then a week later he fought it out and is now back in the front, fully coloured up and chasing Cheerful. So there is hope for the fish that get this thing, apparently.
Hmm. Things have slowed down...sort of. my sister started drivers' ed and so ironically we have to drive her tot he driving class three time s a week. And i re-started piano lessons, so I practice the piano. And YAY i have archery this evening.
Cory cats all getting along. I hope the fry grow! My dad's like "We CANNOT have a "fish nursery" for the next 6-10 years for these guys" LOL.

I have to take some Iowa tests today. But Mum hasn't gotten up yet. So here I am, doing fun Internet-ish stuff.
I left the danio with flake in one corner, First Bites in another, and a bottom feeder tablet at the bottom of his breeder trap to choose from and hopefully eat. I'll clean it all up after this.
His head looks so big next to that pinched stomach. His gill covers when he breathes ho bigger than his body now. Am really worried.

Before he was right with the school, joiing in the tig.
Then he got wieird and left the school, hiding in the plants. At first I assumed there had been a recent spawning there and he was finishing off the eggs. But that isn't the case. His stomach is so pinched his back looks like it's arching. His colours look fine, altho the gold/yellow striped on his tail fin are looking mor white than gold. But that might be just him.
But enough of my woes, how are your fish doing?
How's the finrot on the betta? Is he feeling better?
I think I have to go soon.

Uh....i got them in January. Not that old I guess, but they seemed pretty big already in the store.
He won't take frozen adult brine shrimp, and that's all I have. Lizzie advised cyclopeeze.
I'll see what happens. I moved him to a breeder trap. He always stayed away from the school anyhoo.

No, he's NOT a fry. I would be sad, but I have 16 others, so I probs would just do a Wc and throw some shrimp in there. It's an adult danio. I think it's probably Marty, the smallest weaket one, or Hard Tack, a smaller one but the newest one. (as in the last danio to be added...which was like a coupla months ago).
Lizzie Limpet suggested cyclopeze. DSo you know what that is?

Nothing much, I moved the platy fry to the fry tank.Oh yeah,
Every morn i count the fish, and I noticed that there would be a little danio, the 6th one to be counted, hovering in the corner. Today i realized that he was looking awfully skinny. LOL, i may try a pic on the bigger platy fry this afternoon. I've just been way to lazy (under the excuse of busy :D). I have a 20 long and they're great. You can do so much with it, and it has the aeration space of a 30 gallon. The only prob is if you want tall angels and stuff. Wha are dojo catfish?
When you said tanis i guessed you meant tanins.
I was just looking at ur pics, and does the betta leave that shrimp alone?
Just wondering. Passion would hunt and eat small snails in the tank.

Gorgeous tank! I like your selection of fish, too!Maybe this SOTW is good for the Narnia movies, considering it's a new studio (Fox instead of Disney)) new director (Michael Apted instead of Andrew Adamson) new kid in the series (Will Poulter) and....yep. Vote. Actually, just google "betta biting own tail" and you'll see hundreds, no literally HUNDREDS of links to forums and blogs about male bettas biting their own tails. They say it can be our of boredom, stress, excitement, hunger, or even hereditary! He still eats like a pig and enjoys flaring at Whirlaway. Seems healthy as can be, except for those fins! MY WORD! i WOULD never PUt a female and male betta together. No, i let him loose in the tank, and a female in a breeder trap, with lots of plants, so he can swim up and look at her, and if she gets scared, she can go into her refuge of plants. Well, on the bright side, the 2 platy fry are great and growing and acting all playful. But the danio fry.... i decided i'll try the cooked-egg-yolk-with-water concoction. Hope it'll work. If this batch of fry doesn't work, that's ok i guess, my danios must be spawning like crazy. I think the frozen brine shrimp and the bits of chicken helped em spawn or sumthin. Actually, it's been a bit of a stressful headache, even tho there ARE SO CUUUUUUUUTE! I am very very happy i get to see fry so small, but i wasn't planning anything. i was vacuuming the tank with my six adult danios, and when i looked in the buckets, i saw something "swimming". I got 11. Then 8 died in a week, while i frantically attempted a infusoria culture (didn't work) and 8 died. then i vacuumed again ( weekly) and got 19 more. Help feeding? Hey Betta gal How ya doing? Yeah my betta are bloated too!!!, I think it a thing they go thur. I've been feeding mine's every other day and very little protions at a time because of the winter months. My females are full of eggs and the males are full and ready , but I'm going to wait until spring to mate them. So hang in there, I'm sure there fine just getting fat over the winter months! talk to ya soon! and you know you got my vote!!!!Come visit me, Brotherhead.

2 male bettas
They fight at first, but once dominance is established they get along if you provide them with enough space. I would allow 10 gallons for each betta. Longer tank is better than a tall tank. Provide plants, caves, and anything else to provide cover for the weaker one to retreat. By breaking their line of sight with each other, they tend to stay seperated. Now when one gets close to the other, they flare their gills and stare at each other, but the weaker one backs down and is chased for a couple of minutes at most. Once and awhile, they do fight to re-establish order of dominance. To keep females in their, prevent bubble nests. My power filter return flow keeps the surface moving and no nests forms. Other variety of fish like danios and platies help also. No fin nippers though. Bettas are great in a community tank,Come visit me, Dawg.

Thanks for the comment. To answer your question they get to be around anywhere to 20-25 cm but the recommended tank size is about 10 gallons but I got a bigger tank so I could house two but the albino died due to the tank's water being too hot after a heat-wave in my town. But Rupert survived and has proven to be a very happy little chappy. I hand-feed him beef-heart 1-2 a week their supposed to be blind or poorly sighted but he recognizes me in a room walks up to the glass. He absolutely hates bright lighting and whenever the lights are turned he storms across the aquarium and hides in his caves which is quite funny to watch :DCome visit me, That Axolotl Place & That Tropical Fish Place.

you're back!
I havent heard from you in a while buddy! Well, if the water test is fine today we're heading out to Petco and getting Sugar another cory cat friend. Well, i have one platy one cory right now.
