We had a nice day, rained most of it. We took a ride to town to drop of Jakes friend. The internet was out lots yesterday because of the thunder storm. I hope you had a really nice birthday! How's the weather there? It's still really nice here though a bit cooler at night. In fact, it's supposed to be down in the 30s at night later this week. I hope the garden will be okay.
I"m glad that Rufus is doing so well. Mouse is now on 3 medications. We just added vetmedin to her schedule. Tiny used to take that with great success. So, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
She turned 11 today. That's not old for a chihuahua but in her case...
Well, as you know I finally uploaded the parade photos. I'm glad you like them! Wish you could have been there with us!

I got some housework done while the kids were out. We ended up with 2 extras last night, everyone is still sleeping now. We took the kids to the beach but the girl was the only one that went it, still way too cold. The kids had a fire and we bbqed burgers for supper. Bill made it out in the boat, we stayed home, he caught one bass. We wanted to go last night, but it started to rain, a little rain last night too. It is suppose to rain lots in the next few days, maybe I will let that fill up the pond. I walked over and helped my friend take the protections off her shrubs and we had a nice chat. So much for the quiet weekend. Jakes buddy came out and is staying the weekend. The kids had a fire and cooked some hotdogs. I got the pond cleaned out and have to put some water in it today. I'm almost afraid to tell you how much I did today...so I won't. Loki did great at the vet, they were impressed with him. we did have a glitch, their system kicked us out so we were in the room for 45 mins just waiting when I finally went out and asked how much longer. they panicked as they didn't realize we were still there so he got his nails clipped for free and they were all so nice. He's healthy and now weighs 9.60lbs! and we sure like his nails short even though he's not happy about it. Mo was fantastic at the bathing place too, she went right up the ramp no problem, got in the tub and was perfect! They were so happy for her there! Usually it's a wrangle of a mess to get her into the tub but apparently she's decided that she enjoys being clean and pretty and so very very soft. Thurs was nice, the massage was great, I go back on the 30th. My arm is achy today but feels a bit better, if that makes sense. and she really helped my neck a lot, I had an inch more of movement either direction when she got done, ahhh. The plant seminar was great, and I got some more things to plant outside. I'll take pics once they have filled in a bit. Got some nice Hostas for a big pot on the porch that are cream and green leaves with soon to bloom pale purple flowers, lovely they are. Some more pansies cuz I like them and a few other things. I'll be doing a bunch of succulents in pots this weekend for the kitchen garden window and am going to make a terrarium out of a 10gal tank for my orchids so I can keep them in better humidity and out of direct sun. I'll update you and Dot on the yards etc soon. Gaming, yea I'm seriously bummed everytime I look at my Wii, taunting me with it's blue light of addiction hehe. I ordered a tombraider book and hopefully after my next massage my elbow will be ready for some fun. It's been breezy, cool temps, cloudy and nice here. Wish you were here! Me and Bill went to visit our friend and then came home and sat in the garage and chatted, while I played on my ipad. He started a fire and cooked some sausage for supper. Jake had his buddy over for a short while, his other friend cancelled out for the weekend, so it will be quiet here. Still have to clean the dirt out of the pond and refill it. Happy Mother's Day!
Happy happy it is too! Well, I wish my arm wasn't hurting all night, but I did do a lot of driving so not surprising it hurts. I'm getting a massage on Thurs, so looking forward to that. Weds have to get Mo a bath after Loki's doc appt. She's loving her new life, health and well, food. She's a Rottie, they live for belly rubs and food I swear hehe. Got Loki a laser pointer yesterday while I was at the petstore getting goodies for Mo. He's in heaven with it too! He can't seem to get enough. We're going to try to get it on video so you can hear his noises hehe. Well, sure hope you enjoy the day. I've got some morning glory and wisteria seeds to get planted, hopefully today as well. How are you doing? We've had the nicest spring here but now it's starting to turn hot. We enjoyed several thunderstorms and some proper rain this week which was really nice.
I'm glad that Rufus is doing well with the treatment. He's a couple of years older than Mouse but Mouse came from a puppy mill and has never been the healthiest chihuahua. She's probably been one of the fittest though! She's always game for a hike. Now if we take her she has to be carried quite a bit of the way.
Mouse has been on her heart meds for about 3 months now. She's incontinent because of the amount of lasix she had to take. She is completely unaware when she leaks. I just wish the meds would work properly but it's a waiting game.
Thanks for the congrats on the parade. I'm working on a big print order that has to be out on Monday. I'm hoping to have a chance after that to post some photos and write something about it! ha

Mo wasn't eager to go to the vet this morning, poor thing, I figured she'd be afraid she was going to leave her all day again and be 'tortured' hehe. She was more than happy to see our fave vet tech, but she still wasn't happy to be taken behind the door, but when she came out 10mins later the grin was ear to ear and boy was that nubby tail a'wigglin' hehe. She got to go to a field for a bit, then waited in the car while I grabbed some groceries quick. She is also down to 123, lost 2 more lbs, YAY, and she's feeling lots better indeed. I'll be taking her to the park later today after school gets out. We didn't get to go yesterday, but she was feeling tired anyway and enjoyed lazing in the backyard. My arm is bugging me today, i did way too much yesterday with it so today will spend the rest of the day behaving with it. Jeesh. I'm weary of this already! But at least we got enough rain that I don't have to water. i did some weeding this morning, a few were beyond stubborn so I left the stubs, hopefully I harmed them enough they'll die on their own. Mo is sure loving these small meals all day, she has an amazing biological clock for things too hehe. This dog NEVER forgets! Well, I need ice packs and get my 'nest' fixed up so I can lounge about watching the rest of Fringe today. Wish I could came again, I hate not interacting with the brain drain so much, I've never been good at sitting still for very long and since your brain is more active when you're asleep than it is when being force fed tv nonsense, I get paranoid about too much of it HAHAHA. We didn't get much rain. It got much cooler here too. I tried to fix the door, it stays on for a little bit and then falls off. Will have to buy another one when Bill comes home next month. The fish and buddy are doing great. I have been doing some organizing and trying to get my cousin her passport papers and visa. We are too get some rain today, I hope it washes all the winter grime away. I have been enjoying the deck life, but I back door handle feel off and I have been trying to fix it, makes it hard to go in and out with the door handle following off now and then. So Mo is feeling better and all pets are enjoying having me home and lazy. They are kinda bugging me, cuz well, all three are spoiled and want all my attention all the time hehe. We got a bit of blue sky showing today, but it's supposed to rain more in the next few days. I'll get Mo out for a walk, that will make her very happy and I'm sure I'll be better for it as well. Been watching Fringe on netflix, am on S3 already since Saturday. Yup, this sitting around doing nothing means lots of book and tv time. Wish I could play video games, that would help. Hopefully my now HUGE weeds will be easy to pull, they are bigger than my intended foliage, the dratted things! Well, not much else to tell. It's boring but I suppose that's a good thing. How is Rufus doing? Is he glad to be home. It must be hard on the poor pets all that travelling too. Are you all rested up from your trip too. It has been super nice here and am finally getting some yard work done. My mom walked by and then Buddy disappears for a while as she follows her on my moms walk. They sure love to spoil her and my dad calls her the family dog. She has a bag on chicken jerky and she carries around and grabs one when she is in need of a snack. I'm sorry to hear that Rufus is not doing well. It sounds like he has the same heart problem as Mouse. She's doing alright but she's not as well or as perky as she used to be. I hope Rufus feels better soon on this medication. Mouse does better on it but we are still upping the lasix and I worry about side effects.
Well, we did the parade yesterday. And guess what! We won it! Eddie and Pippin were entered together and completely won the whole crowd over. They were the stars and they knew it. I'm so tired right now but I will write up something about it and send photos. We had a lot of fun.

We are doing great. Glad Rufus is feeling better. Fish and Buddy are doing great. I posted a new pic of her, she will not get much bigger. I think she was born in July so she is probably full grown now. She loves it outdoors and loves to explore the neighborhood. She goes out on her own no need for a leash she has free range. My parents seem to drive by and pick up the dog, so if she is missing she is usually there. Will love to see your pics, that is great. How are you doing? That's great that you stayed up there longer to help out. Are you still there now?
Melian is doing great. I'd say completely healed up now. The scab came off today. Not sure if it fell off or she ate it. She is a dog after all! :)
It's SOOOO nice here right now. Almost hot! Everything is blooming, lots of the garden is planted, Pippin's winter coat is trimmed... I love spring. My favourite time of year.
Next Sunday we are doing something I never would have imagined in my life. We are entering both Eddie and Pippin in our county rodeo parade. It's held here in our tiny town, pop. 700. Both will be all fancied up and pulling their own cart. I'm quite excited! It will be a sight to behold! We'll take photos and I'll share them with you.
How's little Rufus doing? He's a real cutie. I think of him sometimes when I see Kermit.

Are you back yet? I see that Takoda is back so I thought you might be too. Thanks for the birthday wishes for Melian. She had a great birthday and I got some really nice photos of her. I posted them on FB.
And then the next day she was attacked! I posted my account below. I'm so proud of her!
Been really busy here and haven't had a lot of time to exercise Melian or the horses, or myself. Have to get back to that again!

I have never seen Melian stay around when there was danger. The only difference now was the presence of the small dogs. Melian was protecting her pack. One bite from this dog and they would have been dead. No doubt about it.
I am very proud of my brave girl. She showed a valour I didn't know she had and she was injured in the line of duty. Her side has a puncture wound and it's purple with bruising from the full on hit. Both her back legs are sore and have scrapes and bruises. She deserves a Purple Heart!Come visit me, Pond Creature (Rest in peace sweet Tiny girl).

Written on the 11th.
I look at Melian in a new light now. Whenever I'm out working or having fun I never worry about Melian. She's the fastest dog for miles. Not even her own kind can catch her. I think that only a greyhound, and a fit one at that, would even have a chance. And it would have to do it in the first few metres because they don't have the stamina of a saluki.
So, when good dogs go bad and threaten my Meli I am secure in the knowledge that she only has to run and she's safe. And that has always been the case. She doesn't stick around when there's danger. It's each dog for herself and off she flees.
In the back of my mind I have always wondered if she gives any thought to others who may also be in danger. I guess she figures I can take care of myself. After all, I am the boss. Haven't I made that clear?
Anyway, yesterday she showed a different side. I was out building a fence for a new pen for Eddie. Melian was with me, as were tiny Kermit and Tuna. Suddenly a vicious dog came charging out at us. He visits our neighbourhood from time to time and he's not nice.
Immediately I thought about Kermit and Tuna. I looked and Kermit had already headed home through a small hole in the fence. He was safe. Tuna, who is partially deaf and blind, and though a sweetheart she is also a bit retarded, was standing out in the open.
The dog, a sporting breed, came at us full speed and in attack mode. I leapt in front of him to head him off. He turned back and ended up with the fence between him and Melian and Tuna.
I rushed back to scoop up Tuna. She paid no heed to me and with her hackles raised she was ready to attack the danger. She's so clueless about these things. She knows that in a dangerous situation someone will make sure she's okay. So, she's fearless! She would walk off a cliff, no questions asked.
I grabbed her up and rushed to put her inside our gate. The gate shut, Tuna was now safe. The dog was insane with rage. He kept lunging at the fence and twice he ended up halfway through it in his attempt to bite Melian.
Melian didn't run away. She kept pacing back and forth and threatening this mean dog. Suddenly the dog ran back and figured out a way round the unfinished fence. He came charging again and again I leapt in his path. This time he didn't turn back but swerved around me heading towards Melian.
He's a good 20lbs heavier than Melian and he was going at a fast clip. I was sure Melian would run away as always but no. She had the little dogs to defend. Instead of running she turned around and faced the oncoming attacker ready to bite.
He slammed right into her with his teeth bared and bit her full on the flank, piercing right through the skin and completely bruising her whole side. Still she stood her ground. She turned back to bite him (I sure hope she got a bite in!) and he turned away ready to renew his attack. At this point we managed to get a hold of him and he was dragged back home.

yes, my accident prone self has become a legend in my family. I figure better me than them and they agree hehe. But I have been enjoying lots of tomb raider. bf got to watch me jump and holler a bit when some black panthers came after me when I was expecting crocs and well, it was funny. loki enjoys my 'gaming nest' as I put the stinky stuff on my arm (have bruises, sore muscles, swelling etc) then put a towel around it, then the heat pad, tuck all the down on the side of the chair into a pillow for an armrest and then can game away, sometimes with his help as he thinks I'm now a super warm nap spot hehe. My MA got to meet him yesterday for the first time, he put on a good show for her too and she had side aches from laughing so much. he's a keeper and quite the character. and he wasn't even full throttle cuz she's a new person to sniff and check out during play time. I'm enjoying pumpkin pie and whipped cream for breakfast. Seemed like a good idea! hehe. Guess that's it for me. the snow storm didn't last much longer after I bragged about it, but it was a good wet one and we are to get rains on Thurs so that will be very nice. Gonna do some running around with my dad the next few days and then hopefully be home to enjoy the rainy day and my game. guess you'll be leaving us soon to enjoy some vacation time. don't worry about any of us, we'll find a way to get along without you...how'm I doing? hehe. well, I'm realizing this morning is moving along and I need to join it. I forgot to mention I've had a lovely run with injuries in the past 3 weeks, rolled my bicep muscles and had to have those rolled back- yea, that hurt, and then about a week later I cracked the end of my elbow, same arm (left) and so that's been fun. Since I'm ambidextrous it's not that big a deal but some things I can only do with my left so that's been interesting hehe. But I've learned to have it properly positioned so it won't interfere with my Wii time...I'm cruising right along with tomb raider and well, at least I'm resting!
