I like the new set-up! I've been addicted to this game called Jewel Quest and the next few evolutions of it. I've been playing till my eyes swim so I've been a bit delinquent on my blogging but not as bad as you I see, lol. I keep meaning to play for a little while then do my blogging but when I look at the time it's always bedtime. Anyways I wish you and all my fellow fishaholics a Happy and safe Thanksgiving. Take care.

Hi stranger!
Hiya Buddy! How are you doing? I haven’t heard from you in a while, I hope I didn’t say anything to upset you. I’m sorry. I was asking your age and stuff which really don’t matter, so I hope you can put it past you and forget about it. How is your marine tank coming along? Anyway, I hope you are well and I hope to hear from you real soon. Take care and be well! Cheers! Stokes

Hi! You’re welcome. I don’t claim to be any expert on plants, but I’ve had some success here and there. Flourite makes a good substrate for a heavily planted or what some call a ‘Dutch’ aquarium. These days some aquarists have devised methods that harness the natural fermentation by yeast cultures in biological CO2 reactors which lead into a diffuser, so one does not need a tank for the gas. The main thing about such heavily planted tanks is that you select species that will not destroy the plants. Usually soft water fish that like acidity make good candidates. Plants do well in softer more acidic water, as it retains CO2 while harder more alkaline water favours O2. But before you go out on a limb and get all sorts of stuff, try the fertiliser and the lights and from there perhaps you can decide on what degree you would like your tank to be planted. Just how old are you? Hope you don’t mind. I’m 32 by the way. Its just that you said you asked your mom so I’m thinking you’re at least a teen. Anyway, age is not important, friendship and shared interest in this fabulous hobby is! ;-D I hope your mom agrees to it. Basically any form of Eastern martial arts would benefit you in many ways. Apart from teaching you self defence, it teaches you patience, understanding, discipline and certain life skills. It will build up your confidence and keep the mind clear as well as strengthen your powers of concentration and allow you to focus. The fitness and strength will help you succeed in other sports and you will find that your studies will improve as well, because your mind is still and your concentration and focus is sharper. Nice that Max’s family can be traced and brought together. That must have been real neat! When I was younger I also used to have puppies every now and then. Over here people battle to feed their families and well, pets are relegated to eating scraps. It was so sad to see many of the puppies with mange and in bad shape. Jess may have issues from her previous owners; maybe they encouraged her barking that causes it. Well my friend I wish you well with your planting and good luck with your mom letting you join karate. Have a lovely weekend. Cheers! Stokes

Hi! I’m well dude, and I hope you are well too! Yes, the plants are live plants. Well, the thing is my tank is not an all out planted tank. Many of the plants are potted and some are planted in rthe substrate. However, I do not have a special plant substrate as such and the plants I selected are all tolerant of the warmer end of the temperature range, as it is for discus. Many plants I tried would die after a few days. As far as lighting goes, if you plan on trying a few out, I think a lamp with 1000K to 15000K should be able to grow plants quite nicely. You should aim to get lamps that mimic the tropical sun, as they grow nicely under those. Perhaps you should get a good aquatic plant fertiliser from SERA or Tetra. Can’t think of anything else. My tank is tailored or the fish rather than plants, so I don’t go all out like some other aquarists, who invest in CO2 diffusers and special grow lamps. When my plants die I don’t wonder why, I just go out and get some more. But I must admit, since I tried a fertiliser and some grow lamps, my plants are doing a whole lot better. Yes, indeed any body of water generally has that effect, but the sea epitomises that feeling. I do hope you will live your dream and maybe one day visit Africa. Martial Arts was good, I trained in Karate, Shaolin Wu Shu and kickboxing some years back when I was younger. I found Wu Shu to be quite challenging. Unfortunately our master had some bad luck and was unable to train us thereafter. It was a pity as he was very good. In Karate I started out in Mas Oyama School. It is not a traditional school like Shotokan. It was founded by Mas Oyama who opened schools everywhere. Then our grandmaster died and the school splintered. Here in S.A. it became SA Oyama, but eventually we were sick of having to take demotions and learn a new syllabus. Our sensei still teaches, but he is now teaching the Seido style. You look like you could handle it. Martial Arts is a great way to unwind and it brings discipline into your life. I don’t train any martial arts anymore, but its like riding a bike, you will never forget it. The dogs sound like they keep you busy. Jess is probably one of those very vocal dogs. It may be her personality, some dogs just are that way. Is she jealous at all of Max? Give ‘em both a pat from me! Otherwise take care and I’ll chat to you soon! Cheers! Stokes

Hey dewd! Thanks for posting the pics, they are lovely! Yes, I must agree with you on preference of the beach instead of the mountains, in fact I will take the bushveld over mountains any day. But there is something about the ocean that mesmerizes me every time I visit there. I love to swim and so I do enjoy a swim out to beyond the breakers and back. In the mountains its usually cold at night and the rivers are also cold at that altitude. Once we went on a trip with our karate school to the Drakensburg mountains here in South Africa. We had to swim in ice cold water at our master’s command. Its all part of mind discipline training, but its not pleasant. Apart from that the place itself was pretty good, very scenic and it makes for a nice honeymoon destination. Good to hear the dogs are good. You could say that Max is a good retriever then, nicking your drink like that, only thing is he retrieved it for himself! I’m doing well, been very busy at work these past couple of weeks. The weather is not so great this week, its grey and cloudy, cold and windy too. The family is all well and so are the fish and snakes and our bird Tweety. Take care mate! Vote4U! Cheers! Stokes

Hi
I thought I'd come see and vote for these fish today. Do you name them after all your girlfriends, lol? I'm glad you liked the videos. Seems like they give you a good heads up of what your getting into. Cool that you still want to do it. I'm proud of you and I haven't even met you. I'm planning on coaching you all the way through! When are you done with school? I'm expecting to see all A's on that report card cadet!!!! We have to get your a$$ into the academy. Get you officer status, then I think it may be easier to get accepted into the swimmer program. Are ya sick of me yet, lol. Talk later my friend. Vote.

Dilema
Ok, So I finally cracked. I've still got my 55 gallon bow front corneraquarium up with the Oscar, Jack Dempsy, and the 3 Convicts. I just set up a 40 long. What should I stock it with? Should I go assorted goldfish, should I go Live bearers, guppies, swordtails, Mollies, and platy's? or should I go all different kinds of tetra's? Another idea I've been kicking around is that since I have South American fish in the 55, and they're kinda mean, what if I got a small Bluegill, and a small Crappie? Lemme know what ya think. Thanks for your help =) Here's a vote

Hi! We are OK. Fortunately not in my immediate vicinity, though about 30km away, shyte hit the fan. Its terrible, yes, but it is improving now since the military has been called in to back the police up and provide vehicles and helicopters among other things. If they had done so earlier, they would have saved so many lives. The National Intelligence has found that it was organized and many mob thugs have been arrested so far. Good to hear the weather is good. We having some good weather here too. Sun is shining and warm today.I read about a tourist who was mauled by a leopard in Umfolozi National Park today. One wonders what he was doing outside his car, because they usually hand you a booklet informing you that the animals are dangerous and you shouldn’t get out of your car. Maybe he thought that it was such a cute kitty, he had to give it a hug! ;-D They are usually vicious and terribly fast and powerful, so he may be lucky. Mighty nice to hear about your new angel fish. They are marvelous looking fish and I wish you good luck and your fish a long life. I look forward to the pictures. Otherwise keep well my friend. Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Stokes

Hello
That's to bad you lost that angel. After I brought my glass catfish home and had dumped them in my tank, I then read up on them. They stress real easy and are known for ich. I was sure that I would get ich. But I did't. Good luck with your new angel. Let me know if you post a picture of him. Here is a vote.

Thanks for stopping by my page. Your tank looks so nice. I hope you can get rid of the ich before you loose any fish. I had it once. Years ago. I got it off a batch of mollies that I bought. Hello
How is it going? I read that you have angels. What kind do you have? I have 2 pairs. A pair of blushing angels and a pair of koi angels. I sure do enjoy mine. I also have just set up a 10 gallon guppy tank. Had my first drop of fry last week. I think she had 5. Hard to tell as they hang pretty close to the plants. I have another one that is pretty close. I put her in a breeder cage tonight and am hoping she will drop in there. Leaving you with a vote.
