Hello
Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone. I had come down the chimney with presents to give And to see just who in this home did live. I looked all about a strange sight I did see, No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree. No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand, On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands. With medals and badges, awards of all kind A sober thought came through my mind. For this house was different, so dark and dreary, I knew I had found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly. I heard stories about them, I had to see more So I walked down the hall and pushed open the door. And there he lay sleeping silent alone, Curled up on the floor in his one bedroom home. His face so gentle, his room in such disorder, Not how I pictured a United States soldier. Was this the hero of whom I’d just read? Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed? His head was clean shaven, his weathered face tan, I soon understood this was more then a man. For I realized the families that I saw that night Owed their lives to these men who were willing to fight. Soon ‘round the world, the children would play, And grownups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the day, Because of soldiers like this one lying here. I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone On a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry. The solder awakened and I heard a rough voice, “Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more, My life is my God, my country, my Corps.” With that he rolled over and drifted off into sleep, I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep. I watched him for hours, so silent and still, I noticed he shivered from the cold night’s chill. So I took off my jacket, the one made of red, And I covered this Soldier from his toes to his head. And I put on his T-shirt of gray and black, With an eagle and an Army patch embroidered on back. And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride, And for a shining moment, I was United States Army deep inside. I didn’t want to leave him on that cold dark night, This guardian of honor so willing to fight. Then the soldier rolled over, whispered with a voice so clean and pure, “Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas day, all is secure.” One look at my watch, and I knew he was right, Merry Christmas my friend,Heres a vote for you

Season's Greetings!
Hiya! How you doing I’m busy at work, its end of year and no one is really in any mood to work, yet we must go on. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, I most likely will leave early for Xmas Eve. Are you off for the holidays? We sould be unaffected by the epidemic as long as we stay out of the water at rivers, dams and estuaries. The ocean should be OK for vacationers. Otherwise, the tanks are looking good and my fish are all well. The snakes are also doing fine. They have been voraciously eating these past couple of months and the heat is causing this. I gave them a supplement to help keep their stomachs in good shape along with a multivitamin. My daughter is well, she is staying at my granny’s place. My folks left for India on Sunday evening. My youngest uncle and his wife live there, so my kid will be fine playing with her young uncles and aunts. She is so fortunate to have experienced having a great granny. One day I can tell her about it to remind her how precious old folk are. Its extremely hot down here with intermittent rain and apart from today, it has been baking us, so hot and sticky. I think Christmas Day will be a scorcher. Nothing like a day beside the pool. It’s been so hot down here, I’ve had the fish tank heaters off on all my setups, turned the basking lamp and heat mat off in the snake tanks and I even drop a couple of blocks of ice in there in the evening. I’ve been reading about the weather out your way. It’s hectic. It’s probably the one factor that keeps us from emigrating out to the US, UK or Europe. I couldn’t live like that. I’d be horribly miserable. Our winters by comparison are not really that bad. We never get snow, only twice in my lifetime have I seen snow. I guess if you grow up with it, it’s not so bad. Anyways, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family well over the festive period. Have a fabulous Christmas! From Stokes, Shana and Nawaal

Hi!
No sweat, my friend, I just want you to feel better real quickly. I will likely spend a week in Korea. I've been told I'll be going to Incheon and Seoul. It should be a real culture shock for me. I am so excited about it! My wife is not too happy though. If she had some leave maybe I could have taken her. But she cannot take any leave at such short notice. Perhaps another time. A brackish water tank sounds like a great idea! I would have loved a fairly large setup where I would stock Archerfish, Scats of all sorts, mono angels and gobies. I wish you well! It should turn out great! be sure to post some pictures when you get it together. Its been extremely hot out here. The rain has been regular too and the humidity very high. I'm so exhausted and the heat doesn't help. Otherwise all is well. Take care! Cheers! Stokes

yay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cool deal so yeah i have done it once again with the wins and i have so emailed this channel and begged them to setup a fouth award so i guess in their wisdom hopefully soon they will create a fourth award, hehehe, i do go all out and focus on that stuff aye, cool that you are going to be ok and bounce back well at least i hope you do, as for brackish water fishes theres a few that could work here i will tell you two setups that could work for you each depending on size of aquariums, the (first) setup would be for a small tank or small comunity of brackish residents would intel bumblebee golbies, some mollies, glassfish and celebes rainbowfish, the next (second) setup would be for a larger setup or larger fish would be the knight golby, mono, scats, orange chromides, green spotted or figure eight puffers, archerfish and those White Tip Shark Cats but these get pretty huge, let me know what your interested in and i can figure a setup for you or lead you in the right path, hope all is good take care my friend..

Hiya Friend! No worries, we all get busy sometimes, don’t sweat it, I wish I had more time to keep up with everyone. I’m truly sorry to hear about your breakup. Well, it sounds like he was hoping you wouldn’t find out and so he would still stay with you and see his stuk on the side. Stuk is what we call a ‘piece’, usually of meat but also in the context of the A lettered word. Anyway, I think you are better off without him. He’s still playing, probably hasn’t grown up yet. You and your son can carry on without him. I think you will find more time for the kids now. And of course your tanks! On my side, we are in the midst of spring. I was scared it would be a drought, but the rains came and all the dust is settled and with that the vegetation is turning lush and green. Many trees are in blossom and there are butterflies and a host of other insects that have shown up. The swallows are around too, I saw a kite trying his luck with them yesterday, but they are too fast for him. With the rains, the mosquitoes are breeding like crazy and there are lots of frogs too, the swamp lands are now wet and swampy like they should be. The ground was actually cracked it was so dry. My family are all well. My daughter has turned 2 in October and she is still as cute and as playful. Still very much obsessed with Barney. My wife is tired of her job and I’ve been trying to get her to find something else. My fish are all well. I’ve lost a couple here and there, but most have done well. The snakes have come out of hibernation and ate a few times now. The Taiwanese Beauty, Jade, is doing very well indeed. She is longer than me!! But she is such a sweety, I love to handle her and she likes crawling all over me. Tweety, our budgie is doing well. He has grown somewhat. Apart from that I may go to Seoul, S. Korea for work related stuff. I will be heading the test effort in Korea, for our programs which are part of the airline suite we develop. Not much else to report. Take care and I hope you get over him fast. He’s not worth it. My best to your family! Bye! Stokes

yeah i wouldnt jump back on that horse again for a while aye, take it slow and easy buddy, if anything i would just be talking to others as friends so to say and see where it leads, but i say if i had to experience the same issue i wouldnt get remarried or jump into something quick i would just date and maybe do just a few booty calls, hehehehe, its a guy thing aye, but yeah i agree with you on the overloading of fish tanks when it becomes too much like work than the hobby and the fun is over, hey a brackish tank would be sweet, puffers work well, but as for me i would do the mono's and scats in a brackish tank, hows the kiddos aye, take care my friend..

Hello Stranger!
Hi and welcome back. Sorry for only replying now. Its been a busy week and I had very little time to catch up on correspondences. My daughter turned 2 on Thursday and we are having a tea party on Sunday, where she will enjoy a Barney themed party along with her friends from the neighbourhood and her cousins. All very exciting! My wife and I have been very busy this past while and I think it will get worse come November and December. They are generally busy months for people in the service industries. Its spring here and its already blistering hot. Very dry with a lot of wind too, which casts a coat of dust over everything. I wish it would rain. The fish are well, considering I have a cobalt blue discus that was sick and is recovering, though slowly, as well as a sick Victorian cichlid in the other setup. My snakes are all well, though Jade, my Taiwanese Beauty is not eating yet. Its strange as she has shed for the first time in five months and she had not been eating since April earlier this year. Then Tweety, our birdy is doing well. He has grown a little and I'm a bit concerned about his bottom beak not growing normally. It sort of grows past the top beak and he has difficulty eating. I've been advised to cut that piece off with a nail clipper, which has helped alot. Anyway, I hope to be hearing more from you. have a fantastic weekend! Kind regards, Stokes.

Greetings!
Hi! Actually the tank is my grandfather’s tank, but since I take care of it for him, I thought I’d share it on the channel. The tank dates back to the late 1940s. It’s a steel framed, slate bottomed tank held together with putty like they did back in that era. I remember it to be one of a kind at one stage. But now its old and my grandpa is 83 an finds it difficult to maintain it. So every two or three weeks I give it a good cleaning. Good to hear you all are enjoying the summer! We are well into winter and its been very cold this past couple of days. The min temp was 28 this morning and the high will be 50F. Too cold for us African folk. Way back when, people here went without clothing, they wore skins. The woman were bare breasted too so I’m sure they must have suffered when it became this cold, . Even our dwellings are not made for the cold, its made to lose heat because the rest of the year is warm. We usually do not have rain in winter, its supposed to be dry season, but the weather seems screwed up, so I guess is freak weather all round. Typically cool to warm days with cold nights and mornings is what we experience. Anyway, you take care and have a lovely weekend. Cheers! Stokes

Hello!
Hello! I have not been directly affected by the rioting, mostly because it hasn’t happened in our township and foreigners in our area enjoy freedom. However, closer to work, its really gotten out of control. In Johannesburg they have targeted Indian, Pakistani and Chinese enterprises. They loot and burn the places down. Yesterday I was very upset, I saw a picture of a man on fire in one of the papers. There were policemen and paramedics trying to help the guy, but he was fortunate enough to die, I couldn’t live with such burn scars, I’d want to die too if God forbid anything like that happen. As bad as it sounds, we have become accustomed to violence and its hardened us to some degree, but you know mob mentality. When they are done with the foreigners, what says they won’t kill a certain group or groups of people they deem ‘enemies’. We all saw what happened in Rwanda and Burundi and if this is allowed to go on by the government, then surely they must be in favour. The government, by the way, has refused to send in the defence force, one wonders if the government is waiting for thousands to die before doing anything. A lot of these people are illegally here anyway, but they continue to linger in the danger zone or outside the police station seeking protection from the marauding mob. The customs and immigration officials should have at least taken them to safety or deport them to their countries, instead of keeping them there, until they get killed or hurt. Today I heard a pregnant lady gave birth in the cold of the morning outside the police station. Her husband killed and her home looted and burnt. The humanitarian crisis developing is off the wall, people are contributing and churches and charities from all faiths have been accommodating some of the people, as well as daily feeding schemes to keep everyone fed. I just hope the government gets off their butts and send in the military before more people die. Take care and be well. Kind regards, Stokes
