Nice work!
Hi! Thanks for your compliments! Well, I have a few secrets to share regarding water clarity. I do water changes of 40% twice a week and then between 60% and 80% once a week, usually on Thursday or Friday. I employ the use of a UV sterilizing unit, so that helps to rid the water of parasites, but also keeps the water clear. I do not use any carbon or chemical filtration of any sort. We are blessed with water that is not extremely hard, has a high KH but low GH and is slightly alkaline too. But my discus have been grown out in local water, so using R.O. water is not really necessary unless one would like to breed them. Even then we use rain water collected during the summer, stored in a barrel. Our rain water is not polluted as in some other regions in the world, so it’s a great source of soft water which is mixed 3:1 with tap water for buffering capacity. Apart from R.O, I do not think you have any other options. Filtering with peat, etc, probably won’t help either if you have a very high GH. If your discus have been sourced locally, perhaps contact the dealer or breeder and ask if the discus were grown out on local water. Jack Wattley, famous American discus breeder in his book, reckons that discus bred locally are able to be accustomed to local water. If this is the case with you then your fish should be able to live in your local water. Hope this helps. Your setups are lovely too. I was quite impressed with your discus and that setup, but your other two setups follow closely behind! Good on you mate! Cheers! Stokes

Very nice discus set up. I love goldfish as well, they're kinda like my specailty. I also have bubble eyes and I'm looking for an oranda. If space ever permits I'd like to have at least one of every variety of fancy goldfish. Here's a vote.

Nice Discus Setup
Thought I'd tell you your tank looks real nice. I like the vines, and wood. Is it real or that vine stuff, etc. you can purchase? The plants look real healthy too. Would like to see closeups of your Discus. I'm a big fan of 'em.
I voted for your Discus' for President. :-)
Drop by sometime to the North country.
take care

I love that driftwood! Plant pots are the easy and cheap solution to making fish caves. I think they look best with moss/a big of algae to make them "fit in." Here's a vote!
