And heres a vote for you thanks for the compliments on the tank. It is a work in progress but so far everything is going great so far. You have to be careful picking out your corals cause if they look to much like an anenome the clown fish will treat it like one and spell doom for your coral Under normal lighting I would stick to a leather coral they are really hardy and can be kept in low lighting Mushrooms are also an excellent choice. It's nice to see somebody researching before going out to buy corals. It's no fun to bring a coral home only to watch it die off. You will find your mix. I started out slowly with fish and live rock and slowly started to add coral.

cool tank
unfortunately, the two anemones you see in these photo's have past on. i was poorly misinformed when i purchased them and i didnt have the right lighting, suppliments, ect... i have a new LTA now, along with vho T-5 lights and all the appropriate suppliments. this one seems very happy with is placement in the tank having only moved about 2 inches from its origional placement 2 months ago. it gets target feedings every other day with an invert food made for anemones and i feed it a frozen silverside 2x weekly. given the right circumstances, i think they're ok to keep. just be very carefull which species you get. some are very delicate and sensitive to water conditions and others are very aggressive( a strong sting) which can mean trouble for small fish and corals within reach. some can grow rapidly and get to a few feet in size. whatever your choice, good luck and keep up the good work!

I fed the tank some fresh flounder tonight and the bristleworm came out and tried to grab a piece away from the plate coral. My god he's a monster and I only saw part of him. He's at least a quarter of an inch thick and god knows how long. I tried to grab it with the tongs but he retreated too quickly. I wanted to dump him in the 10g hospital tank. I'm afraid he's going to bite me some day. I'm always messing around in the tank and it's awkward using the aquagloves. I hope he's the only one! Have a happy, safe and fun 4th. Vote

It's actually a very old tank. I had it set up as freshwater about 25 yrs ago and it was empty for quite awhile the fresh again. As soon as the last freshwater fish croaked, it sat again for a few months then went salt. It's mostly easy hardy stuff. Thanks for liking it. It's quite the source of wonderment as I'm sure yours is. I sit with a magnifying glass for a good chunk of the night. Well, have a good night, talk more later. Vote.

Thanks for the tips
Hi Just wanted to say thanks for the tip for my new saltwater tank. I actually called the tank Starfish because I have now seen three different transporter types of Starfish. I like the little white Asterina stars that I have a pic of on the bottom of my profile. Anyways, thanks again and here is another vote for you. Off to vote for your other tank also.

How long did you cycle your tank for before you put the fish in. Just wondering as I am cycling an 8 gallon right now and have live rock and sand in it. No fish yet. People have told me that the longer you wait the better. Here is a vote for you.
