hello buddy
yeah our water here is really hard the PH is 7.8 8.0 and total hardness is around like 350ppm perfect for african cichlids but not so good for softer water versions, if your water is like this as well you will have a hard time keeping certain species because you have to lower the PH and the HARDNESS whats advised for some folks is just try to cater to the water perimeters you have to those fish that fit those perimeters, i would never have luck with rams because of my water and i am not going to fight the constant battle of manipulating my water so to say, sorry i was MIA for a bit, family was here visiting they flew in from florida, well take care my friend..

Ho are you and your fish? Actually, Marvin is a Betta who is alive and well. The ones who died were Sparkle, a 10-year old Diamond Tetra and Morpheus, a 15-year-old Goldfish. Skippy looks like a real pretty little fish. Here's vote.

Thanks for the visit and the vote!! No, matter how tempting it is I can't and won't allow myself to overstock. I've made so many mistakes from that little impulse, that I finally had to call it quits on buying. So, what I do if I have brood of something, I sell them off and then get something new. Not just keep adding and adding. Makes since I guess!!! Here's a vote my friend Take Care!!

Sorry about Skippy :o( Monet is as healthy as a horse…or fish hehe. I’ve had him for about 3 ½ yrs now. When I first took him out of the pond when I moved into my house (he was already in the pond when I moved in) he had short and frayed fins, but now his fins look great. Here’s a vote for u. Bye. <>< Jen

Howdy Skippy
Thanks for stopping by. The lobster I have is very easy to keep. I feed him shrimp pellets and frozen vegetables like peas & carrots. He is quite an entertainer & very playful. If U put other fish in the tank, they must be small and fast swimmers, otherwise he will catch them & have them for dinner. The funny thing is that he doesn't eat fish meat, just the fins and fish tails. I have my lobster swimming in his own tank with no fish around. Dropped U a spring vote.

Hi there!
Sorry for the late reply, mate. I've been posting on and didn't look at this profile for a while now. Regarding the question about ball pythons, yes they are related though distantly to pythons, as in they kill prey by constriction, rather than venom. But the difference is pretty marked. i do not have any personal experience, but I have read a lot about many different types of snakes and ball pythons can be difficult to feed at times. I think they need a latent period of 8 weeks in winter and then when spring resumes you can turn the heat up and get it hungry to eat again. Also they eat less often than rat snakes or king snakes. Usually fed once in 10-14 days. They also suffer badly from vitamin and mineral deficiency so get a good reptile vitamin and mineral preperation and mix in with the water. Apart from that you may find tons of information on the web, but not all are reliable. So rather get a book from your local bookstore or borrow from the library, at least you will know that there are no falsely made up info on the species. Have you considered red tailed boas? A lot easier if you want to start out with Boiids. Also visit, they have a little information about ball pythons. Take care. Cheers! Stokes

baby ball python
no problem my little friend, yep you are correct i forgot about that issue, most definitely make sure it is eating before you buy it, but cool if you get one i hope it works out for you, this year at work i believe i caught a few snakes, but mostly were black rat snakes and black water snakes and one copperhead and i did rescue a ball python from under a car wrapped around the axle, now that was a lucky snake and one of my coworkers kept her as a pet and is doing just fine, be safe kiddo heres a vote..><}}}">

supplies and fins
I go to the one LFS we have left, O'Fishal, (funny huh) and PetSmart mostly, PetSupermarket when I am in that end of town, don't like Petco much, try to stay out of there as much as I can, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I am at a pet store about once a week on average. Sometimes I just go to look at what's new. I have a big dog, a cat and a snake as well so I have to chain store since the reptile store went out of biz, and I HATE wal-mart so not many other choices around here. Been having fun taking some new pics this morning, and even got a decent one of a pair of my killis that are not up on site yet, not quite done with their tank and want a bunch of good pics cuz they are so small and it's hard to see what great colors they really are on film. By Sunday I should have them up, need some help from boyfriend on some angle ideas. It's his camera so he knows more about it and I am still just diddling around learning it.

I know about going and seeing more funny stuff or cool stuff and you just have to figure out what to do with it. I want a skull of the dinosaur variety, think watching loaches slither out of a triceratops eye would be cool! Did you ever get another frog? I have one now, it was blind at birth and is the weirdest little dude ever, but it gets around fine, holds it own against all comers and is about a year or so old now. Funny little stevie wonder it is!

yep feedings and cleanings will help the growth of plants as well, that is cool, loaches are fun fish, but are they hard to catch, when i had a school of skunk loaches in the 120 gal i had to take everything out just to catch them, fast fish and are great hiders, be safe my friend heres a vote..><}}}">

cool, what tank will you do the tablets in, well either way you should be ok and wouldnt have to add a whole lot, thats why i dont dose the 120 gal i would have to put way too much in to make a dent into it, but honestly my plants are doing great in the 120 gal and the only thing i do is weekly water changes and i added another light fixture a long time ago when i bought this tank, but i am looking to upgrade the lights to compact fluorescents with alot more wattage, but that will cost a pretty penny aye, later heres a vote..><}}}">

yep it is cool to teach the folks about our great hobby and to pass it along because electronics and game systems are taking over and fewer folks are getting into the aquarium hobby, so i teach at local schools on animal husbandry fish, dogs, cats and other animals as well, and it is cool to see kids get involved with the hobby, H.A.V. ><}}}">

to hear about skippy, he is in that big fish tank in the sky now, about those plants most snails do not eat plants and it is usually the smaller versions of snails that dont eat plants but the bigger apple snails do eat plants but not all apple snails certain species will not eat plants, my ivory snails do not bother my plants and if you have those malayasia trumpet snails they will not bother your plants aye, and most definitely clean your tank, i recommend a weekly water change with a gravel vaccum, filter pad cleaning every other week unless you are like me and overstock your tanks and i have to do filter pad cleanings weekly as well, be good my friend heres a vote..><}}}">

in memory of skippy.....
thanks for visiting skippy's memorial page. skippy was an Africa dwarf frog that tragically died at the age of 1 on November 7, 2007. his favorite food was bloodworms. he would always greet me at the front of the tank. his best friend was a little pleco named pickles. he always went after the betta, pearl if he came near him. i will miss him dearly. please vote for skippy and his fishy friends.
