I have been ill, off line so haven't responded. Your tanks look good and aren't they a lot of fun!! Yes, salts are colorful, with the fish and corals and the best thing is what comes out of the live rock, you never know what is growing in there. I even have a mussel! Take care, Kerry

And, a vote back. Sorry about your Betta. I lost a bunch last winter, overfeeding, so am being real careful with these 18. Come check out my freshwater and salts some day. I see that you are blogging with Pittbull - he is really helpful. I have an African Cichlid tank also. Kerry

Hi, thanks for the complements and the congrats! I’ll have to put up a pic of LR (Lone Ranger). He’s a guppy with the same type of tail but a little more yellow in it. I named him Lone Ranger cuz he was the only one of the guppies that I hadn’t named yet that survived! LR and Starburst always hang out with each other. I love livebearers too I just don’t seem to have the talent to keep them alive. All my tetras and other egg layers have done great. Cover Girl says bubble bubble hi back! I can’t believe how much she’s grown since I got her on May 1st! She’s my first female betta. So here's a vote for you and your clear looking tank! <>< Jen

Here's a vote. I'm really sorry about Skippy. We just lost Morpheus, our 15-year-old Fantail Goldfish and from another tank, Sparkle, a 10-year-old Diamond Tetra. We have two new Goldfish and in a separate tank, a new Betta.

Come visit me, Marvin, Morpheus & Neo and Trinity.

what up buddy
cool i am glad you were able to find that, i also seen that meijers store has red sea marine salt for sell but i dont even know if you have a store named meijers in your area but cool that you found it and as for the meter 1.012 will be a good level to start out with and you are so right about taking it slowly because you will shock them if you do it fast, so i would say start out with a tablespoon per gallon and test and if not quite there wait til tomorrow and add another tablespoon per gallon and retest and keep repeating until the required level, yep just 15 more votes and i will hit that mark and i couldnt have done it with out you, thanks my friend and heres a vote for you as well..><}}}">

i have never owned a snake and will probably not, my wife is terrified of snakes and i really dont want to subject her to one, but i have handled and worked with snakes a bit, but in no way am i an expert, what i can tell you is that the most important part of getting a snake is to read up and do your homework on the species you want to keep, that way you will know what it needs before you get one, basic husbandry applies, constant daily cleaning of cage/tank, food and clean water, they need a good heat sorce and a clean invironment to help keep them healthy and mite free, food should be in form of a dead mouse probably a frozen one and thawed out before you feed it to the snake to reduce wounds inflicked by a live mouse, they have teeth they will bite the snake, most pet shops sell frozen mice/mouse/rats and if not i am sure if you ask them they can pre kill a mouse for you, get some tongs and dangle dead mouse in the cage/tank for feeding a live false response, feeding is a personnel issue some folks feed a large meal once a month, some will feed twice a month smaller size rodents, some will feed every 10 days, a hungry snake is a mean snake it will bite, with pythons and constrictors they do not see like you or me they only see a heat pattern they are not to visual on the eye site only have great heat sensors for eyes and if they are hungry and you stick your hand in to get the snake out it will bite your hand thinking it was food, and a python bite is very painfull and are hard to get them to let go, i have been bitten by a green anaconda before i was bleeding pretty badly and it so hurts, but do read, there is tons of info out there either books or the web, do your homework aye, be good and heres a vote..><}}}">

oh yea, eels are way cool, the snowflake moray is one of the wish fish on the list. say that 3 times fast hehe. My main problem with the frogs is the slime when they shed, but I usually have several when I do have them. Just have the one blind one now and it's my daughters, she took down all her tanks as she is just too busy with college and work. The 12 gal that spazbees are in is actually hers, once we move and I can set up the 40 she will get it back as by then she should be able to take on tanks again, she hopes! That loach pic is really good, nice you could get a clear shot cuz they never stop moving!

yeah one of my sergeant duties at work is to go to local schools and educate children on animal needs and husbandry, i also teach some college and other groups on dog fighting and the cruelty that is involved, i have alot of duties i perform and the school education is by far the best and the kids love my uniform and they are always asking about my weapons that i carry while on duty, some kids come up and give me a hug and some are scared, mixed emotions, have a cool day my friend, H.A.V. ><}}}">

Sweet - A vote for you
Very cute tank. I'm glad you have your Betta in a larger home with friends. The pink thing hanging in the tank above the water line (in the pic) is a clutch of Apple Snail eggs. Apple Snails are great to have because if you don't want any more babies, you can just remove the egg sack. They are easy to spot. I don't use CO2 in any of my tanks, I just picked plants that are for low light and don't require it. I use regular gravel mixed with about 30% Flourite. I only dose with Seachem Excel about once a week.

yeah definitely try the zucchini slices, loaches and plecos and all sorts of fish love zucchini, try zucchini and some romaine lettuce that might keep them off of your sword plants, there is alot of low light plants out there you will have to do some homework maybe try to google some or just cruise the net for info, well you cant go wrong with a compact florescent lamp, mine seem to do pretty good, you might have to get a glass lid and buy a compact lamp somewhere local though, it can get pretty expensive aye, good luck my friend, heres a vote and happy fishin..><}}}">

the only way i will buy on-line is if it is a pretty well known site and i trust it, thats why i did the ebay buy, the plants are money wart, red ludwigea, amazon sword, hair grass, flame moss, and riccia, i have two mini compact florescent lamps made by coralife, bulbs are 10,000K x2 per each lamp, i have a co-2 doser from jungle labs, i have about almost 4 inches of gravel and laterite mixture, i cut back plants once a month only a few at a time, very low fish load, my tank is doing so well right now and the shrimp seem to love it, i dose with co-2 once a week after water changes, heres a vote and happy fishin..><}}}">

as with most living things in the hobby, there is alot of different species to choose from, mine are the red cherry shrimp that only reach 1 inch so they stay fairly small, but there are some that will get pretty big and could be a predator, if you are thinking on taking on a shrimp tank may i suggest that you try the cherry shrimp they are great beginner shrimp, not too fusy about water conditions but do need some attention though, most small shrimp are filter feeders and they like small foods like pellets and algae disks, they usually do not eat fish, but if a fish dies in the tank they might scavenge on it, but most small shrimp should stay in a tank with out big fish as for the fish are the ones that will eat them, the same holds true for shrimp that was told to you by something fishy blue lobster blog, google aquarium shrimp and you should find a ton of info, heres a vote and happy fishin..><}}}">

if you take care of him he should live. but i see you have clown loaches and a pleco, but clown loaches get pretty big and like to be in schools. and plecos, common plecos, get about 2 feet. i liked plecos too but i dont keep them anymore, accept in my pond, because i know they get big. >(<')
