What kind of movement was it? Chances are, if she still looks like she is holding eggs, she probably is. But dont worry. Theyll breed eventually. I cant really help you unfortunaly until you tell me more about that movement you saw. If you meant like small things, possibly fish, it probably wasnt. After hte female lays eggs, they need 2-3 days before they hatch. Dont worry though, all you need is four things to breed convict cichlids: a male, a female, a cave, and clean water. Youll eventually spawn them. In the meantime, dont disturbe there cave in case you want to see if it is eggs. In the chance that there is eggs, disturbing them is nto good. Oh, no no no no no no no. Whoever told you convicts were livebearers was completely and absolutly wrong. There not even closely related to livebearers. Heres how they have fry: the mom lays the eggs, then the dad fertelizes them. Then when the eggs are in there cave, the mom guards the mouth of the cave and the dad gaurds the perimeter. wait is over
finally got my fig 8 puffer in spazbees and while on vacation brought home some others, 2 amazon puffs that are so cool and peaceful in the spazdoglee. I am so digging these convicts, thinking I need a fish room at this rate! I am so digging that tree stump of yours, plotting out to add one to a big tank in the future. waiting is the hardest
well, have to wait another week on the elusive fig 8 puffer, but guess that will give the tank one more week to cycle. Such a fun hobby, I enjoy the building and rebuilding as new fins require. Got another 20 gal in my garage I scored at a thrift store and am going Roman in it (have most decor already, good grief how I acquire fin stuff)and will be(attempting)to breed German Blue Rams, if I ever find the room here in our little apt or will have to wait till we move to a home of our own in the next year(+ or -)and then the real fun begins, got a 40 gal garaged as well and have all Egyptian theme for it. That one will be brackish as well, and will be trying some live plants, been doing my research....whew, it's hard work this hobby of mine! I have never had cichlids other than some Angels as a kid (been a fin keeper almost all my life) so I am really looking forward to this new venture when I get to it. Enough about me, how how long have you had the very beautiful convicts? Yours are so healthy! I so enjoy a little whimsy in the tanks, got to have something that makes it personal, your little monkey ornament is too funny!Come visit me, SpazSewer, SpazBees, Gobi-Wan Kenobi & K-Spaz.

thanks for the visits
to my crazy worlds. This tank is so fun looking, that lichen log must be really cool when the fish are in and out of it! I remodeled my spazbees tank cuz tomorrow I am hoping my figure 8 puffer I ordered from LFS will arrive. It got delayed but we only have one store here that is not a chain, even though it's been here over 20 years, his orders sometimes get delayed for a bit.
