You said in my blog that you thought the tank looked empty even with so many fish. I know that feeling, and it took me a long time to figure out that my tanks didn't need more fish...they needed more decorations and better aquascaping. I think if you were to rearrange your rock (using some marine epoxy to hold pieces together, and either acrylic rods or PVC forming a frame that you thread through holes drilled in the rock) you would be much happier with the tank and it would look "full" with only 5 or 6 small fish (which is all you should really have in a tank that size). You may need to get more live or base rock to fill it out a little too. And the added benefit is that the more hiding spots and caves you create for the fish, the more secure they feel, and the more they will be out in the water column. Look around online for some aquascapes you like and then give it a try...you may be pleasantly surprised. :) Come visit me, HaileysPlanted & HaileysCichlids.

clam Hello.thanks for the reply.Dersa clams are really very hardy.I don't know if I would buy one on line unless the place has a warrenty of at least 14 days. They grow really fast. What prices have you seen for them?I think I bought mine at my local store for about $70.Clams do need calcium to grow.Do you check your calcium levels?Need to be over 400.They are great. They also use nitrate and ammonia as well.Let me know..TonyCome visit me, lobo.

Hello again Hi,no it is not a Gorgonian.Actully it is a fake Elkhorn coral.I have had it for years and now it is covered with so much alge and such the snails and crabs love to eat and perch on it.So I may just leave it.It also adds some height and variety.thanks againCome visit me, lobo.

hello Hello..thanks for the reply. You must remember that it is not how many fish but the size.I forgot the formula, but something like a one inch fish needs 5 or 10 gals of water. And then it rises fast with a larger fish. You don't want to delete then of oxygen. That would be my concern. In my 125 gal.I only have 9 fish. The Tang and lionfish are larger so they require more water volume. So be careful how many fish you have.I would also think that territory would get to be a problem.Ask your fish store the exact amount of space different size fish need. Also they will grow.take care, thanks again..TonyCome visit me, lobo.

Nice looking tank. I like the mix of fish and corals, but that is a lot of fish for a 55 gallon reef. You might want to look into getting a 100+ gallon tank or cut back by about half on the fish. Come visit me, HaileysPlanted & HaileysCichlids.
