10 to 12 cichlids? and then you added 6? My questions would be what was the time frame from the 10-12 to adding 6 more? Was your water clear? or getting cloudy? Sometimes the answer is not about "changing the water" - sometimes its the bacteria level within the tank. My suggestion would be that you get your tank "calm" and water ready before adding a few fish at a time. See how your 3-4 continue to progress. Get your water stable. It would be a good idea to change your filter - just in case there is some parasite in the water. I guess the other question I would ask is where did you get your first 10-12? They could have been stressed when you bought them....just things for you to think about. Diane

I need HELP!!!
First time ever for blogging, but I need help with my tank! I have had a 125 gallon tank for the past 4 weeks. I had approx. 10-12 cichlids in it then added another 6 or more to it. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago. I have had most of my fish die! The 3-4 that are still there are wondering what I should do? Here are the things I have done. Partial water change of 1/2 tank of water, two times have had the pet store test my water. First time the nitrates were in the stress zone and today it was extremely high. I plan to do another water change tomorrow. I put some live plants into the tank as well. Any more suggestions as to bring the nitrate level down?? I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions. I am sick that I've lost most of my fish friends!

Tough to view your pics in landscape, though it looks nice. Here's my vote for you just the same.
