Thanks for your comments.

To answer your questions, I live in Southwestern New York near Bradford, PA(which is the home of ZIPPO Lighters). I use well water which averages around 7.6pH. The tank inhabitants seem quite content with their water quality. I thought about starting a feeder guppy tank for my angels, but they have quite a variety of foods for their diet already, and I don't think that a live food source will be any more beneficial to them than what they have now. Besides, guppies are cute and I probably would have a hard time introducing them to their own demise. However I think it is a good idea. As far as the tank looking larger than life, it really is only a 29 gal. The trick is to use my close up lens at a slight distance without the flash and just use the hood lighting. Of course the fish have to be still for a good shot. It just makes it look larger than life. Anyways, here's a vote for you. Your tank is equally as colorful. Have a safe holiday and happy new year to you. I look forward to seeing more of your pics.

Take care

finally put up a pic
it was a battle to get a halfway decent picture with my camera, it's only half the tank cause the filter blurred too many pics. A 33 gallon is pretty standard but I am also in Canada, our tanks go up oddly stasrting at 2.5 gallons then 5.5, 10, 20, 25, 33, 45, and then 55. those are the most common non custom sizes. I'm still envyus of those orandas but i have my rosy re3d fatheads as my "gold" fish lol.

I envy you
it's nice to see a lightly stocked goldfish aquarium. I really hope someday to break down and set up a goldfish aquarium cause I have always wanted one. I am voting for you.

side note
just as a side note most of my cories and angelfish were bred in my city, they were born and used to my local water and seem to be pretty durable little fish and a whole lot cheaper i paid a dollar a piece for the cories and anglefish, past experience angels were not that durable from out of state and out of country, so if you can find a local breeder i would go that route.

i believe the only reason i have had success is that my tank has a lot of wood and plants for the cories to stay out of the way of the angels, the angels are still kinda of young, i will evently down size the angelfish as they mature and probly keep 3 of them, your 46 gal would work, its just me but i would put alot of wood and large round smooth rocks, start out with 4 angels and 10 cories and see how that works, you never know till you try, thanks for the reply i will try to get some more photos up so that everyone can see all the fish, i got a new digital camera still trying to figure it out..

thanks, sand
first off thanks for the comment. second i dont have a problem at all with my sand bottom. even if you do suck some sand up it stays in the bottom of the bucket and you can just put it right back into the tank. but truthfully i dont its such a small amount i dont worry about it. the sand size is also a factor. the silica sand comes in diff sizes. any size will really do.

I've had this tank for about 6 months. the orandas were in a 46 gal. tank inmy wifes computer room, but she needed the space, so I moved them into the new tank in my basement music room so i could tear down and move the 46 gal. out. I'm planning to turn some of my music room into a fish room and will reuse the 46 gal. for angelfish, discus or other african cichlid's
