Hi again!
I live in South Florida so the weather is quite benign most of the year for both fish and plants outdoors. This pond is also stocked with cool water species like goldfish and danios which tolerate quite low temperatures and actually appreciate the cooler days here, since half of the year my water temp will hit the low 80's. I have had some good and bad experiences keeping cichlids outdoors, definitely a heater and plastic cover to maintain temp during those below 60 days, especially when the wind blows after the front passes! The cichlids sure love the nice warm temps and free live foods outside, particularly the oodles of tadpoles I get after every rain, which makes them grow fast and provides them with natural color enhancers!

Come visit me, acuineg1 & acuineg2.

Hi!
Love the cichlids! Also, getting back to the driftwood question you asked a few days ago, I keep it clean by just keeping a smaller pleco (ie: a butterfly pleco) in the tank. I also keep the tank in a darker location where not as much sunlight hits it. And thankfully, the driftwood doesn't float for me- otherwise I would either brace it with some rocks or find a way to tie it down. Anyways- here's a vote for you!
