I had a huge blog written to you and FC lost it! So, here's a quick one since I have no time to do it again! Glad to hear the breeding is going so well. And that you are trying to feel better. UGH on that. I too cannot deal with dust so here I live in a high, dry desert with lots of winds...well, it's where the money man is so here I am. Am going for a certificate in Welding for Art this fall, that will be fun. My dad is getting me a kiln in the next few weeks so I'll also be having fun with destroying, I mean, CREATING glass and ceramic works, though not very big cuz well, first off we're not rich and second, I need one to learn with and that won't need me to rewire a whole electrical area at the house while doing so. Nice surprise!
Well, I have missed your updates, glad you had time to check in. I'd consider you a breeder...of sorts...hehe. Have you ever thought of putting your flagfish on aquabid? Not sure how serious you are about them but I know they are highly sought after, especially in this area so you'd have to do some over night shipping stuff but folks will pay if the price is right. Just a thought. I had just gotten home with 3 pepper cories, barely 1.5" long for the sewer tank. Yea, all those fake plants, and that gravel. OMG it's awful but it's fun and well, sometimes you just need some fun in your life. I sure wish you lived closer cuz I have got tanks to spare here, including several 10's, a 5, a 12, a few 1.5's and whew, I'm trying to get rid of them! This spring we're going to go through and set up a bunch and try to sell them off complete. need money for big tank ideas now. The sewer tank is one I got at a local animal shelter thrift store, it's pale grey and looks like granite, it's really beautiful and unique. It's even made in America! Sadly, the company doesn't exist anymore. Figures. anyway, I'm slowly collecting things and making notes for the future 120 from my aunt. it will happen, hopefully by the winter holidays. I have a totally awesome piece of manzanita branch that I scavenged a few years ago that my rad neighbor lady is going to soak in an unused bathtub at her house when the time comes. She's starting to get interested in fish now, I'm working on a new convert hehe. Oh and the 20 that the mollies are in is also going to have to go. I'll eventually only have a 10, the grey 20, my 55 (that eventually I'll put on the site but am trying to let some other fishy folk win something :}) And I'll have the 120 dream tank WooHoo! So, made a deal with bf to have only 4 tanks eventually, and no spares in the garage taking up room. He says he'll wait and see how that works HAHAHA! Well, cuz someday I'd really like a 180+, but that's a long way away. trouble with tanks
there's never enough tanks or enough money to keep them the way you want LOL. All is well around here, the molly fry are starting to show some colors, I'll keep the cool looking ones, try to give away the others. There is one that looks like it's going to have a white body but black head and tail, very cool indeed. I'm going to have to see about getting a bigger tank at this rate hehe. I wish you all the best on getting into woodshop hehe. I'm still loving my classes, not sure if I'll extend the metal class though or wait till fall. I don't like to drive in bad weather and the class is only at night so it's double scary. We are currently frozen and icy all over so not even sure how I feel about leaving the house today. But since I got a new welding do-rag cap and some new heavier gloves, might have to go break them in hehe. I am so enjoying the Wii Fit, and of course my Zelda time. Well, need to get a few chores done I started last night so that I can continue to enjoy some Zelda later this morning after I do my OMG I'm out of shape Wii Fit HAHAHA. Oh, and I know what you mean about hours going by while you rearrange a tank, it's truly a master of time suckage, a veritable black hole that keeps you occupied and out of reality. molly babies
yesterday I found about a dozen little black ones so looks like I'm a nursery nanny now hehe. The one silver baby is growing and doing fine, almost 1/2" now, and hopefully something will eat most of the new black ones cuz that's a lot of babies, especially since the female still looks HUGE and not sure how long she's going to be popping some out, YIKES! Hope some will be lyretailed, that would be sweet. Not much else to tell, I'm very excited about school this Sat, soon I'll have no free Sats until almost end of Dec but I am happy about it. Yes, a GIANT aquarium you could swim in would be an ideal way to spend the day hehe. Aquatic life is so amazing, and addicting. Our poor families having to suffer through all our NEEDS, I suspect someday they'll hold some kind of intervention thing HAHA. Glad you had a great time, and happy you're back. I've been busy with art stuff, chores, family life and general good times. I like not having to deal with back to school stuff for kids, this year it's me having to deal with it! Lucky my only 2 classes don't require me wearing new clothes and new go-faster shoes hehe. happy summer
yup, been super busy but most of it good. Been in watercolor classes which have been fun, but I don't see it as being a regular medium in my world. Also, cleaning tanks and attempting to set up a 10 gal on the bottom of the spazbees stand, just not sure what to put in it yet. Also, I won tickets to a FABULOUS Elton John concert and took my daughter, it was Sunday 25, and was it ever fun. Now, I'm a hard core punk fan most of my life but always had a soft spot for Elton, and my daughter liked a few of his songs, we now really like him as he is amazing and wow, what a voice still! Anyway, also been busy with pets, yard work, art work, house work and avoiding work hehe. Kids are all great, they've been having a pretty good summer so far too. SeaWorld? SWEET! algae
ugh, I too have to clean my tank lids today, as well as scrape the front and sides. I never worry about the back since all my backgrounds are either black or dark blue and the algae helps give some interest. Well, and keep the snails and grazers happy. going to be getting those overdue water changes done and get some remodeling done today as well. My nephew is here to help and he's my fin partner indeed. Him and my son have been working as my slaves this weekend, we have much yard things to do and then we can play in fish tanks. Did so much yard work the past 2 days, my arms are having a hard time wanting to move. Getting my hair up in preparation for the impending heat of the day (it's supposed to hit 101 today, bleah) was about all I could handle. Good thing my slaves will soon be waking up from the smell of caramel rolls baking and coffee brewing. I don't drink coffee but I do make a mean pot when needed hehe. busy but bored
sounds like a typical summer vacation haha. Your fins sure keep you busy, or is that you sure keep your fins busy hehe. All is quite well in my world, dogs are funny, fins are happy, been planting flowers and doing yardwork and housework, looking forward to more time with bf and less time with kids since they are all going to be busy and/or gone for the summer. My boy has a job starting next week and stepson is off to his mom for the summer and well, it's going to sure be quiet in my life for a few months! YAY! I'm looking into getting my aunts 120 gal tank set up, she keeps lowering the price and well, I really want it. Her fish are so old I could prolly kill them easily enough and then do it the way we want haha, but don't let her know that! She has a pleco that is over a foot long, he is sooooo prehistorically creepy looking and rather scary with his big old spines! hello lil miss!
been super busy, and have been reading a lot, so guess I'm not as busy as lazy haha. Sounds like you have lots of fun fishy stuff going on, wow! I haven't done much to my tanks but the maintenance, new house is keeping me busy as well as lots of projects that require paint. It's all been a lot of fun though so I'm not complaining. Will be doing some more walls this next week. Family is not happy as it's going to mean moving the entertainment center and shelf of dvds (we have almost 1500) so yea, I get to do the fun part, men get to do the grunt part...maybe I should make cookies so they don't try to stage a revolt HAHA. hello lil miss!
we've had a very exciting week so far and I for one am very thankful I don't have anything else to do except be home, take care of tanks and the normal stuff. We had 131mph gusts of the ridgetops and average of 97mph here in the valley. So, several places look like a tornado came through! I of course had to be out in it all day driving around, not fun at all but at least got all stuff done that had to be and kids are happy, dogs are not (they got rides but no walks) and me, I'm relieved the nasty winds left! I hate wind more than anything! Got my daughter to the airport at 4am for her first flight, she's off to London for 12 days! Lucky kid. Of course, she lives here and doesn't have to pay rent so not hard to save up for travel haha. She'll be heading off to college in a few months, unless the volcano goes again and she gets stranded in the UK hehe. nice to see they are teaching you about something you can relate to! Flagfish, we never see them in this area, too bad, I think I could go for some. Looking forward to getting that eventual pond action going on and seeing what kinds of fins will survive that aren't goldies or koi, as bf isn't fond of any of those types. Well, I'm not so much either actually. I will make it fairly deep so that things can survive the winter here. We have been super busy getting back yard clean up done, and stepson got all roses dug out and their nasty runners. So today my friends who feel the need for roses in their lives will have 7 buckets to get out of my way and wow, after digging out railroad ties and plants, it's really looking like our backyard has more room and possibilities than I envisioned previously. WooHoo! This summer is going to be so fun, in spite of the hard work! Perhaps next summer we can actually start to get the pond area going, or at least mostly started. I want a waterfall feature of some sort so have lots of planning and researching to do. Tough life I lead, I know! Well, guess that's it for now, glad to hear you're having some fun. Well, today I came downstairs to see Louie, the dad of my convict fry, waiting at the front of the tank with the fry, but May was nowhere to be seen. After some moments, I found her all beaten up in the cave by the log where the eggs used to be. I was trying to net her to put her in a breeder trap , but I simply could not catch her! Louie kept chasing her around and she was so beaten up she could barely swim upright. I knew Louie would kill her if she was loose any longer, but she managed to evade
my net, which ended up uprooting about seven plants that take FOREVER to stick in the gravel.
I ended up skidding the gravel with the net. That made me think that I killed some fry with my flying net. I burst into tears and managed to catch Louie, so I stuck him into the trap and watched May in the log, looking like she was going to die. I had no idea what to to, and I had killed some of my fry, so I went back upstairs crying. I have no idea how long my mom and I were sitting on the staircase, but eventually we went back down.
May was scratched up, but she had come out of the cave and was busily gathering her fry and spitting them back into a little herd. I spent an hour watching May and the fry. It was like she came back to life...
I put a lid on Louie's breeder trap because I totally wouldn't put it past him to jump out.
I forgot how tiring it is to cry...

survived the weekend
my legs finally stopped aching a few hours ago! YAY! Have to get dogs out for a big walk tomorrow, maybe to a dog park where we can play some serious ball. Having a backyard is going to make a huge difference in all our lives. I hate apt life! New dog is getting more protective which is good, but this is a 24hr town and people work all shifts, so she sometimes gets rather irritated at some of the folks coming home. Can't get mad cuz well, that's part of her job but like their lights, slamming doors and car alarm beeps aren't enough! JEESH! Tues will be a crazy one, we get to hang around the new house while all the inspections get done and hope they all pass, then off to the loan agent to sign our life away and then start getting the rest of the apt packed up and ready. Hopefully this next month will fly by so I can finally be talking about new fish tanks and remodeled ones and not whining about needing to move! Mosquito spraying is not fun, ugh. Of course, neither is malaria! They have to spray here in the spring as we do have water, just not like where you are! Glad your rugby team assembled quickly, I wish you a fun season. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with blogs. I got a cold.. so...
Well, Ghost, my very special (although, when you have 6 fish in a 20 long you do get to know all of them pretty well) angelfish died sometime last night. Two days ago I didn't go down to the basement at all because I was just laying around and stumbling up to get some soup, and yesterday when I went down he wasn't up there at the front with the others. I looked and looked, and then found him floating around.
Was he dead? No.
He was just hanging in there, being blown around in the corner by the bubbler. So I moved him to a breeder trap, and he was sort of floating towards the surface, and jusssst barely moving his gills.
His fins were ragged and grey, and his dorsal fin was red at the end.
Maybe you won't get it, but I had been looking for a few years for any, just any gold angel. When we did get these four angels, I though Ghost was a Ghost angel (I know, original name, huh?) And he wasn't that great when we got him either. He was one of those veil-tails, but his caudal fin was 24/7 clamped up. So I moved him to a breeder trap and pampered him and all, and in a week, his caudal fin was all nice and spread out.
So, okay. I fixed up our ghost angel, but I still didn't have a gold, right? Wrong. Months later, when I had pretty much forgotten the whole gold angel thing, I was looking at the fish and then I was pretty much jumping up and squealing that I had a gold angel. Turns out he was a :late gold, the kinds that don't become gold until they are fully mature. Oh, happy days.
Anyway, he died yesterday, in the same breeder trap. Sort of funny, in a sad way. I bought him on February 13 (yeah, I keep logs of that sort of stuff =^^=), and he died August 27.
But anyway, that's my obituary for poor Ghost.
pH is still high, although the rainwater did bring hardness down, although the softener water could've down the same exact thing for us. Grrr.Come visit me, Sneeze's Tank, Narnia (seriously, the fish are starting to talk), Rainbow and Moondust & The Fry tank.

Oh geez. My summer was SOOOO crazy! Glad to relax in the school year.. so far. xDD We're doing something a little different this year with homeschooling, so we'll see how that goes. >.> LOL. live trees don't burn?
I like when a pine tree explodes when the pitch (sap) heats up, it's like something from a movie. Lived in mtn country most of my life & yea, all trees burn some just at different levels than others. Interesting teacher you have. Or am I not reading it with enough sarcasm? hehe. So, today is going to be quiet from here on out. Had to get up early, do boys' laundry (they arent home this weekend so am gonna surprise them) & took my sister to get a haircut (she hadn't been to a stylist in over 10 years, I couldn't take it anymore!) Now am home thinking that if I didn't have to leave again I'd be ok! Gotta finish up my Star Trek TNG, am on the last 4 discs of season 7, will have to start the other star treks next weekend (we are such geeks around here). Of course, have plenty of x-files to keep us glued to the set. Its supposed to rain today. The house...Hopefully we'll only be here no more than 6 or 8 weeks. Have all fins figured out for the future 40 tank & mostly what I want in the 55 & my son wants another sewer theme tank for his room so that will be fun. How long have I been gone?
The problem is when I check my e-mail my "you've got a FC blog" thing now gets shuffled to my spam folder. Grrrr. =)
Well, as you know., everything was fine except our PH was high, because outside water is high/high and our indoor softener water is soft/high. (hardness/pH) So we bought a bottle of pH down, dosed... and nothing happened (we tested a few days later). So we dosed again..... and haven't gotten a chance to test it yet, but it is finally clear again! Really, really, clear!

busy summer
so far so good though. Nice weather, been getting things organized, a little packing, lots of cleaning and tons of teenagers. My nephew is looking forward to the move getting done as he and I have many projects to do together, like the stand for the future stargate tank and all the fun that comes with setting up a new tank. He and I traipsed around the backyard of the new house yesterday and now he is as excited as we are about moving. He has yet to see the inside (we stopped by on a fluke so had no realtor to help us get in) and inspected the yard. The next 5 years of my life are gonna be interesting with all the changes needed and things we'll be doing. Have lots of trees to trim and a few to have removed (need the firewood anyway haha!) and whew, I'm already tired thinking about it haha. Whatcha been doing lately? I googled calico's, and no offense, but the ones on the pics, they're cute, but not gorgeous. From the way you talk about them, I'm guessing they're wonderful in real life, and not in comp pics?
Apparently it was too much for a pregnant guppy to be moved to a new tank, nipped up by Cheerful the danio, put in a breeder trap, stress out in there, after an awful lot of thinking, released (a big bad mistake) and then get an eyeball sucked out.
Geez, if I get a big fish I'm going to sedate Cheerful and give it to him.

Happy 4th!
Well, I saw a Mickey Mouse platy in a pic and loved them, but there were only two poor ones at PETCO.
So I got three guppies. One's a male, one's a flametail female, one's a very pregnant greyish-blue, very plain female. I hope with the stress of taking her home she won't abort. :(

Well, Cheerful still looks OK, the fry still the same size, or maybe that's just because I see them everyday I don't see change. Aw, geez, I still can't believe I've been gone so long. I think... hope that the TB spell is out. I'm just waiting, and then I really want to get some Mickey Mouse Platys! They are so cute, I want to get some so much!
I guess I'm just centering the tank on Whirlaway now. :D
Knick Knack is still being very nice with her, but she's not pregnant yet. Thus, the want for some platys. :)

I got tired just reading about your tank chores! Jeesh! Been pretty lazy around here this week. Did get some news on the house, mostly good but still just the annoying waiting game! But thanks to all the rains, the front yard isn't as dead as I thought it would be. Bet the back yard is a jungle. My cat will love that! hehe, you stalker you. Poor boy won't know what hit him when your bubbly self gets through! how goes fishy worlds? Mine got drastic cleanings, and spazbees are much happier. Poor things were pretty yucky since my power filter died and they've only had the UGF. Gonna be so nice to move and get my fish stuff unpacked. My extras and etcs are out in the garage which is now buried with boxes and junk and whew, we just need to MOVE ALREADY. Wow, am I tired of wanting to move! How goes weather there? seems like spring was only a few weeks long, already tired of 80's and 90's heat around here! We did get a nice t-storm that got the Jeep all dirty looking. Can never get car washing storms, always ones that make you have to get a car wash haha! Tilapia filets are on sale at some store around here haha! Funny how siblings can trash things w/o even trying. My bro and sis used to go into my room as a kid and something bad would always happen! To this day my sis hates touching anything of mine, especially since she has trashed the last 3 laptops we gave her! What is it about some folk hehe!? 5/22/09-Whirl has been looking bulky past week i noticed b4 TTTT died, hope fully he got her and she's got his babies in her or maube im overfeeding so i wont eed the tank for 2 days and see how they look. This is going to be a real shortie. CYA!
5-23/09 news:Well, well well, things seem to be rectifying themselves in my tank. Whirl hasn't been fed for longer and longer and she's getting bigger and bigger so 26 days to see if she becomes a red box drifting around my tank! It would be TTTT, i Think, because she was looking bigger before he died. It's a soap opera in there! Who needs TV?!?!?
Not sure what else to say. Somethingroyal likes to rest underneath the driftwood. Oh, yeah I saw something really cute last night!

And finally, the current stuff.
