This tank is so lovely. Sure hope you're in for a very nice 2014 as well. Things got off to a rough start here, but over all, life is good. Our new puppy is quite the charmer, even the cats are getting won over and my days have fewer hissy fits now. I never really understood the term until now! hehe. Our winter started out with some wonderful snow, but now it's just really icy in shady spots and sunny spots now need to be watered. UGH. We did get some 2 degree days, but mostly it's lows in the 20's with sunny days in the 40-50's. UGH! I so want a real winter again! Guess I shouldn't live in a high desert but well, all my stuff is here and I really don't want to move again for a long time, if ever hehe. Glad to hear your fish are all doing well. I'm going to be moving Gobi-Wan into the 55 later this month. Well, that's the plan anyway. He's getting quite large!

Wow, what a great score on the blue ram! WOW! I haven't even looked for new fish yet, have to downsize my aquatic world, so just trying to figure out how to keep the ones I have. I don't plan on anymore glofish, they don't live very long and when they do most of them end up deformed. Guess we should leave nature to nature and not try to 'improve' it so much. Had a nice Sunday, fed 14, most of it pretty good over all too. How was yours?

Happy New Year!
The new fish is gorgeous, no wonder you HAD to have it! I'm really excited as this year it looks like I'll get my aunts 125 at long last! This spring or summer it looks to happen, and since I need to run it a separate outlet, I am ok with waiting. And I got a new kitten for xmas, though we didn't adopt him until New Year's Day, and so far he's fitting in quite nicely. I have a pic of him on spazbees and KSpaz. My other pets are not sure yet how they feel about a hyper baby. I think it's good for all of them, they were getting lazy anyway hehe. Well, guess that's it for now, I need to get some chores done and then get back to some video game fun. Being grown up and at home does have it's perks!

sorry to hear about your father, hope you're doing ok. Really glad to hear about the floor! Great news there! The one time I scraped peanut off the ceiling, I didn't know all you had to do was get it wet and it would slide right off no effort, noooo, I used a big scraper and spent 4 days of painful scraping. UGH. We're all hoping to have a wet winter here, last winter we had so many wildfires and house fires. I'm always a fan of 'bad' weather anyway so I never complain when it comes. We're clouding up and supposedly getting rain today, got my fingers crossed. Makes it hard to type hehe. Hope you are having a good day in spite of ceiling work!

This tank is really awesome, looks like a river. Gorgeous. I'm about to do water changes, then hide from the heat. While we aren't up to triple digits yet, for me, anything over 85 is pointless! Have plenty of inside things to do though and all of them fun so no complaints. Nice to be grown and do things you want. Well, mostly anyway! How is the little fry doing, did you find out what kind it is yet?

Gorgeous tanks
your set ups are just stunning! All is well in my fishy worlds, and in my world in general. Been way too busy but most of it either fun or worthwhile so not really complaining. The only season I don't like is summer, it's too hot here indeed and well, anything over 85 is just useless overkill, to my way of thinking hehe.

Watched your video this morning, such nice fish to watch! I spent most of today doing weeding and planting, happy to embrace spring's arrival. Now I'm beat but the troops decided to get pizza/wings/etc delivered so at least I won't have to cook or clean up. Not sure I could anyway, it was hard work!

My angelfish pair did lay eggs on the plant leaf also. They chased away all the other fish but they ended up eating the eggs themselves. They did this every couple weeks. Are you trying to breed the angelfish ?

I look forward to the video. What a nice surprise, all those eggs! My 125 dream is getting closer, my aunt called me in late Feb to inform me that I was one fish closer, she now only has her ancient and huge pleco left in there. Told her she puts me in a quandary, while I don't want to wish for fish death, I really really want that tank! The pleco is around 14-15yrs old, so could be soon, could be years at this rate though. I still keep an eye out for tanks though cuz if the right one comes along for a great price, I wont' be able to say no!

I think you are right about the LED lights, I am leaning more towards a Cichlid setup in that tank now. I can see Java Fern and other low light easy plants doing well though under the LED. Hope you have some great results with your plants.

Hi,, what plants have you got growing under the LED light set up? I have the same lighting system waiting to be used on a 20gallon tank I have sitting about, but read that LED isn't that great for live plants.

All fins, furs and scales are doing fine around here. Kids are too. Basically, life is pretty mellow and I'm enjoying it! I've not got too much experience with live plants, though my Java's are all happy. I hope to one day expand my aquatic garden but that won't be for quite awhile. We're eventually going to put a big tank (125+) on our breakfast bar since it's useless for anything other than collecting junk and between the natural light it'll have plus whatever lights we add, I hope to have some interesting plants in there. Time and money, never 2 things that happen at the same time it seems! Glad to hear all is well in your fishy worlds!

Tuesday Hello!
I didn't get a female Krib passed away (pretty sure Mr. Krib was picking on her) at the advice of my fav lfs I put him in my 55 gallon in hopes he'd be happier as a widower. He is beautiful and so far all is peaceful. I AM keeping a close eye on him but he seems very happy and content and pays no attention to the other fish at all. While at my fav lfs I bought their last 2 kribs (male and female) and they're in their own tank. Mr. Krib2 He gets nasty to Mrs. Krib2 at feeding time so I'm watching them close as well. Maybe mating kribs is just not in my future? All I know is that they're on my fav list...such personalities! Just love watching them (minus the picking of course!).
Snails eat ghost shrimp?!?! I had no idea! Now that mine in the 55 has eaten ALL of my anubias I wonder if he'll move on to the ghosties? Good grief! It's always something!

Monday Hello!
Thanks for the information! I updated what I have in my 55 gallon. I have 4 neon tetras, and you are correct, I need to get a few more. Have heard they do better in odd numbers too. Set up a 10g in my bedroom (I don't have it listed on FC) and have 3 dwarf guoramis in it. Love them too. Set the tank up just for them. One is red, one is yellow, and one (the bigger of the 3) is blue. Loved the blue one so much that I put one in my 55g. I have anubias and a snail in all (4) of my tanks and only the anubias in the 55 are getting eaten down to the root. Weird! My lfs is always out of java moss but hope to get some at some point. I like the look of your bolivian ram. Not sure which variety my fav lfs is getting in but will steer clear of the German blue as you suggested. Would be worried about messing up the peace/harmony thats in my tank now so may just have to drool over them rather than purchase one. I've always wanted a dwarf cichlid and when my fav lfs got kribs in I purchased a male and female and set up a tank in the hallway (my tanks are multiplying like rabbits...funny how that happens with this hobby!!!!). Not total harmony in that tank...keeping a close eye on them. They sure are beautiful fish. My camera broke so I need to borrow my daughters and update my pictures on here. Going to go check out the website you told me about.

Saturday Evening Hello!
Thanks for your visit & vote! My fav lfs is going to be getting some Rams in this week. I'd really like to get one for my 55g community tank. I have similiar fish as you do so am curious how your Rams do with the other fish? My two little angels are just like your little black marble one. I never had any luck with them in a 10 or 20g, but they seem to be thriving in the 55g. My snail ate ALL of my two anubias plants I had in my tank (LOL!!!) so am also curious what kind of live plant that is in your tank??? And does your snail eat on it??!! Look forward to hearing back from you. Would appreciate any advice you could give me. LAV4u!
Smiles, Rochelle

Don't worry about your Bolivian Ram's color if they are still young (most likely coming from LFS) They will color up beautiful when adults. I love mine ;). You are right they never get the ultra "shiny"? the Germans get but I don't think you will regret the color when adults at all.

And Germans are so touchy. I had all mine not more than a year before the last one died. Clean, clean water and naturally soft is what they require. Thought I could supply that but ....

Good luck with your Angels and Rams :). Happy Saturday!

btw, I am trying to breed my blackish female swordtail.

Angelfish get very territorial. I used to have two angelfish but sadly one died. I tried adding another one but they would fight horrible so I took the new one back to the store. It can make adding new fish hard. The angelfish are the BOSS of the tank.

Good Choices :)
And those Angelfish are beautiful! I'm glad to see you chose 6 of the red eyed tetra. They are a hardy and active tetra that should do well with Angelfish. And it that number you shouldn't have any problems with the red eyed tetras fin nipping ;)

Currently I only have 3 Angelfish in my 45 gal because the 4th (young female) was attacking my adult paired Female "Fin". My adult pair are my original two that "lucky for me" turned into a breeding pair. The two younger ones are from their spawn and I have been holding them for a friend for when she gets her 2nd tank setup. The young one I left with my pair (making it 3) is passive so if anything it is my pair that pick on that one, especially when they spawn. But they don't hurt that one and as long as the young one stays on the other side of tank it works for now. In addition, this young passive 3rd Angelfish appears to be slightly handicapped (swim bladder handicapped) but I think it is a genetic handicap and not some disease as this one swims fine when she eats or swims about - it is when resting that she will lay facing up in a funny way and swimming takes a "bit" more effort. I probably will keep this one because of that... and let her live with the pair as long as no one gets hurt and they get along well enough.

So you see, it is kind of a crap shoot with Angelfish depending on gender, pairing, predisposed temperament and growing up together.

As I mentioned before, I think 3 Angelfish are worth a try, especially in your tall tank, but be prepared for how they settle in as adults together ;)

Enjoy your Angelfish! Looking forward to your tank progressing. luv's
