cycling day 12
diatom has decreases a bit due to the addition of 8 astrea snaila...they really work quickly.
testing is going oddly: ammonia still has not increased as of yet ( stll the same as the first tests)but nitrites are showing up?? nitrates are still minimal and the PH is holding around 8. I have used a buffer but it hasnt raised the level.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know...

cycling fish day 5
I added 3 yellow tail damsels to help the cycle. Unfortunately it was the day of the snow storm and I lost power for 2 days... They survived!! Now the tank has started to do its thing. I have brown diatom algea starting and the ammonia level is starting to increase. I have also noticed a slight rise in Nitrites.
I hope this is not a death sentence for these damsels... they are very active and a joy to watch!Come visit me, old salty.

My Tank....
These are a few pics of my tank...just 3 days old!
added 25lbs of Totoka live rock. Great rock! perfect for aquascaping. I also added a aqueon 500 powerhead to get better movement in the tank. Only in a temporary position at the moment till the tank cycles.
And yes...I love the columns! Not many choose to put ornament in a reef tank but having visited Greece this past year I just had to try!Come visit me, old salty.
