Hello!
Things are busy here as well. Mostly good though so not complaining. Having kids home is always lots of work. Good thing we love them! Weather has been rather cool lately, and we even got a little rain, but alas, looks like the coming week will be sunny and warming up. I will soon be looking forward to fall. My fish tanks have been a bit neglected, been busy outside digging, planting, raking and bagging. Well, guess my yawning is a good hint I need to get ready for sleep. Hope you had a nice weekend!

Hi, hope you get rid of your sore throat and feel better. Glad your son got a snow day and you got some snow. We have lots of snow here, but sadly my son has not had a snow day yet. The town on the otherside of us has to go along Lake Superior had 5 or 6 snowdays so far and none for him. He is bummed! I had to fix up Jakes x box he is trying to do a download and it wasn't moving. I had to go on line and find out where to find it and how to cancell and try again. Glad I don't play that thing, I wouldn't know what to do. We got some new fins, 5 tetras and mean old crowntailed betta and snail (Gary) and so shrimp for the spongebob tank. Hope you have a great day and take care, bye

Hello!
Not sure if I remembered to congratulate you on the new fish or not. I have video gamers brain, which means I can remember things about my game but not about real life lately HAHA. Weather is to hit about 70 today! Where's my winter? I'm 'enjoying' the smell of some heavy duty pain ointment, phew, but it works good so guess the watery eyes are worth it hehe. Have to catch up on some housework today, had kids and their pets home for Sunday dinner yesterday so didn't do much besides cook and visit. Always a good time, our dinners. Well, guess that's about it for around here, better get the gumption to get the kitchen and the floors done so I can do something fun later.

Helllo!!
our Christmas was a bit busy! i haven't been on here in a while. =\ the fishy vids i put up are under the name Cassandra S. i think i've only got two up right now, one of the guppies, and one of my daughter's betta. but it's been a month since i uploaded any, so i might be mistaken, lol! my daughter got her DS for Christmas. her dad scrimped and got her the newest model, a 3DS, lol. and her first game, which Santa got her, is a Spongebob cooking game. :) we had two more drops of guppy fry, about a week apart! one drop the thursday before christmas, and the next one before new years' day. my sister brought her BF's lone guppy over here for me to watch while they tore down the tank (full of hair algae and snails) and re-sealed it. then they got it set up again and went out and bought more guppies, but haven't come to get this little guy yet! he's cute, but i have him in another 2.5gal, and i'd like to set up a 10 gallon where the guppies are now, and put the babies tank in the spot where the lone guppy is, at least until they are big enough to net out, lol.
well, i'm on a mission to try and find some articles and a way to post them "subtly" on my facebook account. someone i know recently acquired goldfish and a pleco, and my SO was there when she bought them, and she was like "The best thing about algae eaters is you don't have to feed them!!" D:< so i'm hoping she can be convinced otherwise.

New Years Greetings!
Hi Rochelle, indeed a pleasure to b in touch with someone from Missouri! Seasons Greetings! Ive been rather slack with the Christmas greetings. South Africa is a lovely place, there are first world standards and third world standards, while we have great cities there are many wide open spaces, like where I live, it is a small town in the classic savanna landscape, there is a river which pans out into a swamp. I have two reserves not very far from me where one can view all forms of antelope, lions, giraffes, monkeys and baboons, leopard, zebra, wildebeest and warthog. There is mostly grass punctuated by trees in my area. We have much cattle and other livestock but we not have many wild beasts outside reserves like most other African countries. South Africa is different in that ee have many different cultures and people's that make up the demographics. We have the most people from a European background. Lots of Indians too, Gandhi actually served here in the South African war known as the Anglo Boer war. The indigenous people are tribal the Zulu people being the majority, followed by their rivals and neighbours the Xhosa. There are also Tswana, Tsonga, Venda and Sotho people that are Bantu. Then there are people of mixed racial background like me. And we also have San Bushmen who have taken up farming instead of hunting. Since apartheid ended, we coloureds have had it a lot better and we are happy to be truly free. Yet there are many challenges like HIV which is an epidemic here. Crime is high we have some of the worst statistics in the world. It is summer and its hot and humid. It rains a lot but it clears up and then the heat makes it sticky. Our traditional Christmas fare would be maize meal porridge, fire grilled meat and beer. In white households its cured ham, roast beef or duck if at home, otherwise Christmas is often spent on the beach or in the Bush. I like both but this year we went fishing on the Crocodile river. It's in the held, where I love spending time. I also enjoy spending time on safari. I've been to a few national parks been on horseback and foot. It's a lot different than in a jeep. I also love animals and wish I could have more. The snake is big around 8 ft.I have said much. Happy New Year! Cheers! Stokes

un-decorating
the take it all down weekend is almost here. ugh. I think next year a nekked tree will be quicker and easier, HAHAHA. I think all your tanks should be 55's or more, it would be easier to get more fish that way! Of course, that logic isn't working for me either but it's still fun to wish for. The snail pic reminds me of some alien craft exploring a new world. Well, guess that's about it, have to get this day going so I can enjoy an afternoon of relaxing!

Hello!
Found a perfect tree today, 6.5' Grand Fir, nice and full, needles soft as a kitten and yea, I'm happy. Also psyched out my kids as I got the Charlie Brown xmas tree thingy and told them I got a tree! hehe, it worked too, got them good. Not often I get them, usually they get me with stuff hehe. Not sure I want to ruin such a nice tree with decorations though HAHAHA. Actually we'll decorate this Sunday when they are all home. I'll most likely get the lights on tomorrow though, just cuz I'll be home alone and going to enjoy the peace while I can. Had so much fun today and scored some great goodies. Well, guess that's about it for now, need to get ready for dinner, it's just about done. I really like the snail pic, that is a great shot! Such a cute tank!

still lusting after Ghosties, lol ;)
our weekend was good, we brought the kiddoes to the local VFW for a christmas party, me and my SO made almost as many ornaments as our two kids, lol. and the 2 year old even sat on Santa's lap this year without crying! my daughter, who is only 6, wants a DS, an ipod and an American Girl doll for Christmas. i understand the Am. girl doll, because one of her classmates got one for her b-day last month, and brings it to school once in a while. i used to want them when i was little too. they are so expensive tho! and i don't know where the DS and ipod came from.
i just noticed that posting a video will get me 1000 points a week, so i'm gonna try that for a while, i'm still waaay off from where i need on points to renew. i put one up of my guppies eating a pea last week, this week i have a few to choose from, but i think i'll put up our betta. all of the fish here are quite happy. now it seems like i haven't been on as much lately, lol. talk to you soon.

Good Morning!
I sure hope that front stays away it is really nice this morning but I know through the day it will get colder but so far this winter is really mild if We are only getting these cold blasts followed by warm waves I can live with that! Well so far things are going along well I have pretty much all the fish that I need as saltwater fish are so expensive and right now it is hard to keep them warm when bringing them home as any place I go is 45 minutes to an hour in the car and the stores are such a mess this time of year not to mention traffic! Now I am starting to get the nice coraline algea growing and it is a very welcome site for sure! It is a hard red algea that grows more like coral! Did you google the colt coral? It is kind of like a tree in appearance! Well time to get ready for work! Vote 4 U

I had to run my dad on several errands and to a doc appt yesterday and while I was gone bf got all tv and other electronic fluff all on one main remote finally so had to show me a few things and then we spent time enjoying the POWER of one handed remote device fun hehe. Oh, and tell your son girls don't snore. According to my bf, we purr...hehe, yea, he's a keeper. I generally have several books going at once, mainly cuz I read fast and like to try to savor the ones I really like. Currently I'm reading Ghost Story by Jim Butcher, Down These Strange Streets - a compilation of short stories, and Chaos Walking. We are major sci-fi fantasy adventure fiction buffs and I am a huge Vamp/Were/Zombie/Supernatural etc fan. Bf watches more movies of that nature with me, he really enjoys ZombieLand hehe. And we read a lot of history. I don't do war things unless it's of the alien attack or other fiction type wars. And I have a cookbook collection, and many very old books, lots of Shakespeare, etc. Oh, and LOTS of art books, whether art history or of the how-to nature. My wall I did purple is currently just the purple. It's a big one too, goes from the family room into the kitchen, with a sliding door and has a garden window over the kitchen sink. I only did to the cabinets though cuz we'll be remodeling the kitchen in the future and I see no need to climb up a ladder for over the cabinets when it's all going to become cabinets. I think this is stormy night, or it's antique purple. I have 2, one is darker and that one is for other projects. I mixed the darker with a pearl glaze and will be stenciling a quote over the sliding door soon. It's a fave quote of my bf's from a Dresden Files character...Life is a journey, time is a river, the door is ajar by Butters. HEHEHE, we found it fitting since the pets keep that door in a state of open/close and partial all the time. Bf says he's more of a doorman than the man of the house hehe. I'm fortunate that my family tolerates my little eccentricities when it comes to color and art. I have a best friend that I've literally known my whole life, her mom and my mom were best buds since 8th grade. She's just a bit older than me and I just adore her. I do have a few other very close friends too, but really narrowed down my world of the drama queens. I get tired of all their self induced bs and then expect me to agree with their actions when things go wrong as I predict. Yea, sounds snobby, but I'm talking about ones who go to bars and bring home strangers regularly and then whine when it becomes a mess. Ya think? I can understand once maybe, but as a hobby, it's not my thing. Well, and we don't like bars, we only go rarely, generally to see my brother or my cousin play in their bands. We remember being young and well, those are nice memories, now we like to be home with books, movies or whatever whim I'm currently inflicting on the family for projects hehe. I was happy to have some friends who hadn't seen the purple wall y

Hello!
i haven't gotten much computer time lately! lol. but i did finally get the guppies added to my tanks. it is almost ALWAYS hard to get pics of the little buggers, but i did manage to get a few. ;) sounds like you have been busy too. getting ready for Thanksgiving? me and the kids are at my parents house, and it seems like every T-day that i can remember, the turkey has always been still frozen and it'd be such a pain to get it thawed out enough to get the giblets out. this year tho, i made sure it was out of the freezer by last night. fingers crossed that it will be thawed out enough by thanksgiving! lol. i'm trying to rack points up here on FC so i can renew my magazine subscription for points, but it's taking an awful long time. :P

and all your tanks :) you must be busy, you haven't been on much. i haven't been on much either. went looking for ghost shrimp again this past weekend, but couldn't find any. did come home with 3 guppies from the closest private owned petstore around here that i know of. one male and two females, they are small tho, so i'm hoping the one female that is more "colorful" (it just has more black in it's tail) doesn't turn out to be a male, lol :) guppies make me so happy, i have to say they are my favorite. i cannot wait for babies! altho i've only had them for 3 days, so i should probably right now just be hoping they survive ;P

wednesday already!
how's your week been so far?
we used to go to walmart and get ghost shrimp like as many as the associate would catch. lol. we'd always end up with big mamas with eggs in them, but if they ever actually had any they probably got eaten by the fish or the filter, lol. they are SO fun to watch.
there was an article in FAMA like two years ago, and they re-printed it in a recent issue of Aquarium Fish Internationl, i think it was called Planted Tanks for the Budget Conscious. but anyway, it was super simple, get a betta bowl, or something similar, like a few gallons, put some regular old potting soil in the bottom, fill it with plants and AGED (water from one of your tanks) aquarium water and add shrimp, and i guess there is very minimal maintenance, and the reason for the aged water is that some water has heavy metals in it that are bad for the shrimp, but if it's been aged then they are all "bound up" and won't hurt anything. ever since i read it the first time i wanted to do it, and now that i have access to small tanks (a 2.5 gallon with a glass lid would be perfect!!) every time i go looking for ghosties the store doesn't have them. or they don't have enough, lol. :P i also need to get more low maintenance plants in possession. it will happen someday ;) leaving some votes to of course, i hope all your fish are happy. :)

sunday hi!
lol, i have days like that too, even when the kids do have school. what day is it? lol. $100 for a 55 with everything is pretty good too. ;) the live plant i put in my goldies tank is Anacharis (also known as elodea or egeria, depending) cause i know it's goldfish safe. it also is a low maintenance plant. :) when i had guppies, it was a fav in their tanks. unfortunately, what's in the goldies tank almost all gone already lol. i get a nice clean arm when i'm putting it back in the gravel at least once a day, lol. i went to petco yesterday hoping to get some more actually, but they were out :P i've put some in the betta's tank too, i know it should be safe in there. i was also hoping petco would have ghost shrimp, cause i'm dying to do a shrimp bowl after reading that article in AFI/FAMA. i love ghost shrimp. but they only had one, and at $0.49 each, i think i could find them elsewhere for less. :P oh well, someday!

Hello!
thanks for checking out the videos. I'm going to be doing a bit of remodel on the dragon tank, taking out the UGF and gravel and putting in sand...oh, this means I'll have a sandy bottom haha! anyway, the dragon is really digging and scavaging now and so the UGF is basically pointless. Besides, I'm worried he'll get some gravel stuck in his gullet and since he's a fave fin, I would be terribly upset. I'm also working on hand feeding so hopefully will get a video of that in about a month. After the remodel he'll be sketchy for about a week or so, then have to ease back into spoon feeding and then will give him a hand hehe. It's cold here, and we almost got some snow. It sorta spit at us. Pretty typical really. tomorrow is to be more of a storm day. I hope so, I have all the ingredients for my homemade hot cocoa and the kids are begging. Well, I've been behind on FC as I've been really really busy inside and out around here. Not much I can do about outside, other than need to finish bagging branches for disposal. Inside I've been doing my fall cleaning. Now that I don't have windows open I can finally deep clean and not have it all dirty by the end of the day. Living in a desert that is famous for high winds means weekly dusting if not daily. I'm not that dedicated haha. I am so sorry to hear about your neighbors losing their homes. It's totally stupid what the money people are doing to us regular folk. I think no one should vote on the coming elections, put none of the above in and then start from scratch. Get rid of all of them seems like a good idea right now. Then again, my morning tea and meds have yet to kick in so I might be more angry than smart at the moment hehe. I have much to do today and need to get out of the jammies I've been in since yesterday...I love this at home life, nice to work in jammies and not worry about snags or drippings on your real clothes. Of course, when I'm painting or doing art stuff I dress like a bum, it's pretty interesting the clothes I have now. Pants covered in a variety of paints and glues, looking more like a kaleidoscope than pants hehe. Hope you get to enjoy your day!

HI
how was your halloween? more treats than tricks i hope ;) do put up new pics soon! i love spongebob lol, it's hard to decide who my favorite character is.
the big goldfish i've had for a little over a year, i got them from someone i met at a garage sale who was moving out of state and needed to re-home them. i bugged my significant other for like 3 days until he finally gave in ;) there were originally 3, but the largest one died a few months ago :( he was my favorite too. when we got them we were told their ages ranged from 3 to 7 years, and the pleco (who i desperately want to put in a separate tank but haven't been able to yet) is probably around 10 or 12. my sister has an albino clawed frog she feeds goldfish to, and my daughter decided she wanted one, cause it looked a lot like the one who passed away. he's in a separate tank of course. my goal is to have them all in bigger tanks in at least 4 months (i have the tanks, just not the space to set up right now, we're kind of "in between moves" at the moment =\) but i just keep up on the water changes and all that good stuff. i'm sure they've grown a few inches since i've got tho. :) leaving another vote!

Hello!
such a fun tank this is. Not sure if I told you but my daughter was half cheshire cat and half alice for halloween, she did a great job too. She is pretty good at costumes and pretty much makes them from scratch herself. Once her and her bf buy a house then she can set up a sewing machine or 2 and really get creative. I'm still feeling rather puny after being sick, but am getting better. Must have gotten too much rest last week as I'm having trouble sleeping now. Figures! I'm going to be changing out my dragon tank a bit, going to eliminate the UGF and gravel and put in sand, a mix of brown and black. The goby is really sifting more and more, digging out big holes and I'm afraid either the gravel will hurt him or he'll cause a tank crash by uncovering the bottom filter plate. Hopefully this weekend I can hit the LFS and pick up an albino busy nose pleco for the sewer tank. Or perhaps they'll have to order one for me. Been keeping busy catching up with house chores after not doing much last week, and still have some outside chores to get done, like get the hoses in for the winter and finish the branch piles. Some I'm keeping for future projects and then have to bag the rest for disposal. Never seems to end. Of course, been doing fun things for myself too, like playing my stupid roller coaster game, working on some art projects and getting things organized in the art room. that has been nice as now I don't have things spread out all over the house and garage, finally getting it in one room and where I need it most. This having older kids is rather nice, can't believe I have room and time for myself daily. It's still hard to only cook for such a small group though, used to cooking for an army most of my life! Speaking of, the lasagna was yummy, and have way too much still even after doling some out to neighbors. Gonna freeze some as really there's only so much leftovers I can handle in a week! Hows the oven working? Are you putting it to good use and making up for lost time? Well, guess I should prepare to attempt the sleep thing again. Been like this my whole life, can spend days up but now that I'm getting 'older', I don't get as much done as I used to in the wee hours. I should blame the internet but really, I'm just getting lazier haha. Oh, and sorry to hear your son's best bud had to move away, that's always so hard. My son really likes xbox live as he can play with many of his far away buddies, they crack me up and I no longer have to feed them all hehe.

HI Again V4 you to
AS fare as cost goes that will depend on the size of your tank. in the SWT world the bigger the better. just because you will have more time to correct a problem if something is off with your water parameters. smaller tanks are known to crash mush faster then big tanks. the best advice I can give is don't go any smaller than a 55 GAL 75 would be better. If you have any other questions I will do my best to try and answer them for you.
