Hello!
Pea puffer! ENVY! Always wanted one. maybe someday though. All is well around here. Gobi never did get moved, but he'll get that bigger tank eventually. Puppy is still fantastic, what a great dog she's becoming. We sure love her. Even the cats have warmed up and now it's SPY VS SPY around here, better than an action flick hahaha. Wishing you a pleasant week!

Come visit me, SpazSewer, SpazBees, Gobi-Wan Kenobi & K-Spaz.

Hello!
How did the breeding go? Not much to tell here fish-wise, they are all just being fish. Getting ready to do some moving around though, Gobi-Wan is going to move into the 55 this month. He needs it too! And we adopted an 8 month old puppy from our local humane society yesterday and she's fantastic! Already a perfect princess. The cats don't agree, but they've always been around dogs so it's just a matter of time, like always with cats. Hope all is well in your world.

Happy weekend!
I'm having a great one so far, in spite of my current injuries (which are still making me laugh, good grief). Went to the LFS and scored 2 really lovely nerite snails for the dragon tank - one is black and tan tiger stripes and the other is rust with some nice dot patterns and got 12 ghost shrimp cuz I think the Fig8 and the dragon inhaled the last batch, the pigs. Also, I FINALLY scored that elusive albino bushy nose pleco, it's about 2.5" and very very active! And a trapdoor snail for the sewer. All fish were super happy to find I also brought home some live blackworms and boy, did they go crazy! The dragon goby has never had live worms and it was really funny watching him for them after he realized it was food and not enemy attacks hehe. My big old goby is like my big old Rottie, huge baby! My Rottie is 139lbs of mama's baby/lapdog hehe. So, all critters are acclimated and so far, so good. The prices were incredibly reasonable too, I even scored 10 white clouds for my friends daughters tank (I got her a 10 gal for her 6th grade graduation/xmas/b-day), as they were only 5 for a buck! Even the ghost shrimp were super cheap, less than the chainstores, and the pleco was only 7.50 so for 25 bucks, I was quite happy. Oh, and got some nasty large crickets for our gecko. I hate crickets...ewww...hehe. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. And no, I don't wear green, I'm very Irish and mean too hehe.

Hello!
I can't believe your store is selling injected fish. You can't get them around here, no one will stock them. It's inhumane for one thing, and the dyes fade out over a few months, if the fish lives that long! One LFS once stocked 'tattoed' mollies, and they almost got boycotted, so that was a short lived venture. We're 'waiting' for a new storm to blow in, hopefully the high winds won't knock out our power. Our neighborhood is pretty well set up and our power lines are underground, but every now and then the main junction boxes either have something blow onto them or a car hits them and then we are at the mercy of the competence of the engineers who rush to fix it all. In 2.5 yrs of living in this house, we've only had a few outages, and none lasted more than a few hours, not even enough for my tank temps to drop more than just a few degrees. Pictus cats are so awesome! Hope you get a nice group soon!

Hello!
What a spectacular place to grow up! I've lived in either deserts or in heavy snow areas all my life, but was born on the coast of northern CA and spend as much time there as I can. Have friends and relatives all over the Bay Area and we all try to get together a few times a year. San Francisco has some amazing fish stores and I've even brought some fish home since it's too hard not too hehe. Not sure I'll make it to our local fish store this weekend, most likely won't get there until closer to my b-day. I'm not in that big a hurry though, need to do some major water changes and cleaning before I bring home any new specimens. My tanks are pretty stable and the chemistry is well within acceptable parameters, but I still like to make sure it's at it's best for any newcomers. Have a fairly busy weekend but all of it good so am looking forward to it. Hope yours is a good one too!

Hello!
sorry been lax, busy doing nothing. I wouldn't do a Fig8 with the clown, Fig8's need brackish to live a long life, and they don't get very big so would become food for a clown before you know it. Don't know much about Fahaka puffers. Bala shark would most likely be fine, but again, you're going to run out of space really soon in a 29, they like to really swim. How is the clown doing? Very cool score there, they are quite interesting. Hope all is well with all your tanks!

Pearls
Sorry it took so long to reply, but yes, pearl guaramis are easy to keep. The ones I have aren't really aggressive even with fish bigger than their mouth. However, they joined in with the other fish in eating some baby guppies and shrimp I tried to add to the tank recently.

Hello!
How big is the clown? They are so awesome. Have a friend who's clown is over 2 feet long now, and he's just so cool to watch. You'll be needing bigger tanks! I'm still on the hunt for a bigger tank myself. Hopefully this year it can finally happen. My dragon goby is going to need a bigger tank in about 2 years, and that's gonna be pushing it, he could use it now actually! How's the ghost doing?

biotope
I like the biotope idea, have to agree with you there. So many amazing options for such an endeavor! I did my water changes yesterday, I forgot how colorful the fish are when you can see them haha. Ok, it wasn't that bad! Fish are much happier, I have a few that live for water changes, they follow me around, pick at my hand and generally get in the way but are so funny too. Gotta get my day going, been lazy too long already this morning and now it's almost noon.

Hello!
How's the new fins? I got my tanks topped off and all filters changed, but have yet to do the massive water changes they all need. At least I'll have something to look forward too haha. Might grab the albino bushy nose pleco if the LFS has it while I'm out and about Sat. This means I'll have to get the water change done on the sewer tank today, if only for incentive :) Yea, those tiny tanks are not great, but at least it helps get kids interested in the hobby and learning. It's the only way I can justify it, keep telling myself it's for a greater cause overall hehe. Hope you have a very nice weekend!

Hello!
Once your eel is comfortable, he should come out most of the time without prompting. Not too surprised one of the glofish is a long fin, since they are just modified zebra danios, I'll be curious to see what different variations pop up every now and then. Science always amazes me! Well, back to my chores so I can then enjoy the afternoon. Hopefully my new Wii controller will come today so I can play some Zelda. I'm hoping the storms 'they're' predicting will happen, I do like playing video games when it's stormy out, then I don't feel like I should be doing something else hehe.

Loaches!!
I have always wanted a hillstream loach, I think one would love the sewer tank as it's very fast moving water. I really recommend getting more than one horseface, they don't really do so great alone and you'll like seeing them peeking out of the substrate hehe. I am feeling better, thanks for that. Stupid colds, I hate them! At least I've avoided flu's for a long time now, had a flu one year from some weird country that I'd never heard of, and my doc said it wouldn't of mattered if I had a flu shot cuz it was some weird strain, OMG that was 6 weeks of misery! I did play a lot of video games though, my kids were really little and would play too so we had lots of gaming on the couch time. Plus I lived in snow country and it was too deep to want to play in and I was too weak to shovel so we just made lots of snow forts and trails for the dogs to follow hehe. I sure hope you score your eel this weekend!

ghost srhimp
my dragon only eats the babies if they get sucked into his mouth but he doesn't bother them otherwise. I've always got breeding ghost shrimp going on, the only tank that doesn't have any is the sewer cuz the current is way too strong in there. My oldest ghost shrimp is almost 2" long now, she's awesome too. Not all fish can be acclimated to brackish. Most catfish will not tolerate salt at all, like cories, and the ones that will thrive in brackish are way way too big for a home tank, they are usually found in public aquariums. I think I referred you once to a book by Neil Monks, Brackish Water Fishes: An Aquarists Guide to Identification, Care & Husbandry. I've had brackish fish most of my fishkeeping life, started when I was 3 and I'm well into my 40's now, and this is the best book out there for brackish lovers. Your local library should have it or should be able to order it for you, as it's rather spendy and shipping to Hawaii is even more spendy. Also check out Badmans fish website, they are pretty informative for most all fishes of all kinds. When do you think you'll be able to get your eel? did you decide on one yet?

snails
they are kept under control by a very happy Fig8 in the 20 and the clown loach in the 55. I always have snails for my happy eaters of snails. MTS are not popular, no pet store will take them as a general rule, they clone themselves and just 1 or 2 will take over an entire tank in a very short time if there's no predators. I'm confused at to why you are telling me about green puffers, I've never wanted one for my current 20. I like Fig8's best though once I upgrade my brackish into my 55, perhaps would get one way in the future after the Fig8 is gone. I'm super excited you may get your eel soon! Yea, our LFS sell glofish for about 7.99 too. Funny how different they all are, I mean I know that chainstores buy more so get better prices, but still, you'd think some things would be much cheaper. Our lfs will order fish for you, and I got really lucky the day I went in to order the Fig8, they actually had a small one that they marked down to 3.99, and that little guy is thriving and a busybody now. I agree some puffers get a bad name, but some are quite nippy. wonder if it's due to curiosity more than territorial though. Well, looking forward to hearing about your new fish!

Your new loach...I want one... :o)
Common name: Ocellated loach, Banded mountain loach.
Maximum size: 2 inches (5 cm)
Care: The tank for these fish should mimic their natural environment which are the gravel/sand bottom hill streams of Sri Lanka. Plenty of stones and shelters for hiding is recommended. Ideally, these loaches should be provided with brook/hillstream aquarium conditions incorporating a high flow rate and well oxygenated water - please see Hillstream Loaches: Specialists at Life in the Fast Lane for a more detailed explanation.
Feeding: Most foods accepted. Commercial sinking formulations and bottom-dwelling live-foods. Frozen foods such as bloodworm/brine shrimp.

Come visit me, KuhliLover & Betta.

now it makes sense
tiretrack eels are certainly intriguing, I am a fan of all eels and puffers, and knife fish. Ghost knives are a fave of mine cuz you can have several in a tank, which someday I hope to. You know, winning the giant lottery and spending it all on fish tanks hehe. Back to horseface loaches, you can keep quite a few of them in a tank, they don't get very long, and are thinner than a pencil, and it's great when all of them get together and have just their heads sticking out of the substrate hehe, like some kind of surreal garden hehe. You've got some tough but fun choices to make, new fish are always so fun. I also like the fire eels, those ribbons of color are stunning. guess I'm not helping you much, only adding to the list, hehe. Looking forward to hearing what you decide!
