Hello!
Oh, your new pics are just lovely! WOW! Been super busy, and also trying to decide what to do with tanks. Need to move Gobi-Wan to the 55, he's getting big now! But first we'll be moving a 40gal tank that has our desert gecko from my son's room to the breakfast bar. I hate the breakfast bar, it's just a junk collector so we decided the gecko will fill it nicely. Where it's at now is on top of an entertainment center and it's too hard for me to get up there on the stepladder now with my busted elbow and my son works so much he's not home enough to do proper care now. Besides, the gecko flirts with me and it's funny so now he can hang out next to the computer desk and we can entertain each other hehe. Wishing you a super nice weekend and sure hope you get a break from work!

Hello!
What a nice surprise! Was happy to hear from you! So I read my last blog, been a long time, whew! This year I managed to roll some bicep muscles, got them rolled back OUCH, then about 10 days later I hairline cracked my elbow cap and so more OUCH. It's doing a bit better today finally. I need to learn to be still more, but I get so bored and there's always something to do! Pets, family, friends, fish and gardening have been keeping me more than busy. Next year I hope to do some veggie gardening and going to learn to can...yup, going old fashioned hehe. My mom and SIL have a grand garden going this year. I'm just hoping to keep some flowers going for some color. This desert is, well, brown. it's not like Vegas, we're higher up so there's no palm trees in spite of what Reno 911 shows hehe. Reno/Sparks does have it's charms though. Well, sure hope you stay safe and thanks again for stopping by!

Absolutely wonderful! Been wondering where you've been hiding. I live in Sparks, NV, so can relate to the driving you do...lots to see, yet lots of nothing at the same time in this state. My dream tank is getting closer, my aunt lost another of her ancient fish the other day and told me I'm one fish closer to getting her 125. That leaves me in a quandary, don't want to wish fish death but the greedy in me really really wants that tank! That's going to be one project that I'll really enjoy for sure! My Rottie loves small white things - the cories, other animals, and she's very curious and likes to help me with chores. Except vacuuming, what a big chicken she is, she can't fit under the bed but she'll sure try hehe. Oh,and she doesn't do water hoses either, but we are sure that's because the first 6 mos of her life she spent tied to a tree and we figure she either got watered down or hit with it as punishment. She loves water, but not from a hose. This summer we're going to get her a kiddie pool so she can enjoy the hot days with a still water retreat hehe. Been busy myself, this week in particular, my mom broke a hip and had surgery etc etc so that's kept me busy on top of my regularly scheduled life. She's doing fine now though and soon will get to move to a rehab center that is very good. Guess that's about all I got for now. Think I'm finally getting past the 'too tired and stressed can't sleep' mode I seem to be in. At least today will be a slower paced one! Be safe and glad to hear you got such a wonderful new job!

Hi
Your tank is looking good! Glad to hear about your job. Must be hard to be away from home for so long. I don't think I would like that. Yeah, slowly getting things going in my tank. Got a few frags, and a few fish. I got a peppermint shrimp but I haven't seen it since I bought it. Don't know if it died or it's hiding in the rock. The only problem I'm having with the tank is this darn hair algae! I can't seem to get rid of it. Other than that, all is well. I'm trying to sell my 14gal. Oceanic bio cube. I had fresh water in it, but I want to use the money to help stock my salt tank. Keep posting new pics! Love your tank!

Glad to hear from you!
Sure glad your new job has been working out and now you have gotten some new fish and the pistol shrimp! After reading the FC article on the Niger Trigger I didn't feel to bad about getting one and it does look like it is going to be a good addition since I didn't have any shrimp except for some shrimp that has started to grow in my tank I think that the eggs survived there big freeze in the frozen food I have given them but it coud have come from some of the coral frags that I bought! I also bought a Lunare wrasse and so far it has been a really good resident! I hope that you get your 125! Left you a vote!

Good News!!
Glad that you love your job was all that part of the hiring process! Figure if you can make it through the worst Ice storm only to get your truck in such bad shape and still go to work for the company is definitly hired! Glad you are getting your miles in! Bet it does feel good to be working agian I know I got frustrated here a couple of weeks ago I didn't make any hours and wanted to go find another job but I knew that it would get better and it did for the time being! Really the only other job I could do would be as an instructor and I am not sure if I really could get that job but it would be nice to no longer have to worry about not getting any hours thats for sure! It would be nice if I would be able to get on the hotline and put my experience to work! Got some more fish I picked up my friends 2 yellow tail damsels not thrilled about that but I know he was glad to get rid of them! His tank is coming along really nicely now! I picked up a blue red toothed trigger found out they are plankton eaters and I always liked them they remind me of a sub! I just love the way they hover and if they are going to eat anything in the tank the smallest thing is those yellow tail damsels so it is a win win situation Left you a vote!

Good News!!
Glad to hear you got the job and it sounds like a dedicated route as well with just the west coast! Bet you can't count how many times you have gone coast to coast! Winter came in yesterday and now I'm dealing with the snow right now! It is only about 2 inches so far but staying cold then I see that on Tuesday and wednesday we are going back to temps in tghe 40's and rain agian then Thursday it is agian going back to snow! Strange winter for sure looks like the west coast is really cold and dry while the east coast has been warm and wet! I hope to see my friend this weekend he works on electric motors and sometimes has to go into the mines so he stays out for a couple of days but he is not complaining because he gets paid good when he stays out! He just started his tank and I gave him some of my rock and sand to get him started I felt bad because he went to get some yellow tailed damsels and they had the percula clowns on sale so he got one and in a week the damsels harrassed the clown so bad they had his tail fin tore up and he was going to give it to me to keep but within an hour it passed away! I sure hope he doesn't get frustrated! but it looks like he is hooked! I lent him one of my old light fixture while he makes his mind up on what he wants to do about lighting T5 or LED which I still can't get over that one fixture lights up the entire tank! He seen that as well and looking into the LED's I am trying to get him to sign up and put his profile up on FC I got AFI subscription and a box of salt so far! Wish I had all my points that had expired when I lost my internet! Well it is time to get back out and shovel some snow! Good luck with your new job!

Happy New Year!
Good to hear back from you and good news on your job search! I hope you get that job! My work has really slowed up right now and being flat rate it is really hard just hope things pick up this week so I can at least get the health insurance paid! The fish are doing excellent along with the coral still trying to identify the one hard coral that is doing just fine and growing I love the new light and I hope I get something back this year in taxes! Here's a vote for you! And Good Luck getting that job! It has to be boring sitting at home! Strange isn't it you work so long wanting to have time off but when you get it you find you can't wait to get back to work! at least that was the way for me!

Sure hope you are having a very nice weekend. You need and deserve it! Gotta be quick as I'm typing with mostly closed eyes, day started very early and after having a party of 15 all day, I'm tired and have to do it all over again Sunday with some changes of faces, but still a big group. It's all fun though and I'll be happy to great Monday with bleary eyes and wear jammies all day hehe.

Merry Christmas!
I wish you and your Family a very Merry Christmas! I hope all is going well for you! Feel bad for your job situation and wish for you to get a job! I had 6 weeks off when I had the stroke and really could not wait until I got back to work and really happy that I could go back to what I do the best and work with my hands! my friend is getting a good start in his tank and he is thinking about doing a plenuem system or a deep sandbed can't make his mind up yet! He has a friend who has the plenuem system and he really likes the low nitrates he has and he doesn't have to do many water changes! I have alot of water to keep mine stable but I still do a 20% water change every other week now but when it gets more stable I will go every 3 weeks and I have a deep sandbed but the tank is 30 inches tall so I have alot of room to make the deep sandbed! Seeing my lights has gotten him convinced on starting out with LED's instead of T5's he price of bulbs and the fact that it is a yearly thing of shelling out money for new bulbs! Well doing a water change before I head down to see my family for christmas time! They are over 3 hours away and I haven't been down for over 6 months! Agian May you have a very Merry Christmas!

Good Morning!
I did talk too my friend and showed him the website I know he doesn't get much time on the computer but there is a lot of good ideas and advice he can get that I didn't have when I started up like my mistake of picking up live rock with aptaisia because it showed life on it! LOL And Finaly I can laugh about it! He just made the step and added the salt to his tank I am now starting to get the coriline algea growing and it seems like the red is growing at mid level while the green is growing at the upper level! It is always changing that is what makes me love this hobby! Well time to get to work!

Hello!
You know that aptasia zapper is cheaper then what I invested in Copperbanded butterfly's My 3rd one was the one I finally got to take care of the aptasia at least all that you could see I was impressed but then once the aptasia started it's comeback that fish had nothing to do with them it was happy eating the mysis fish I was feeding the other fish! Here's a vote for you! Heading off to bed now finding myself falling asleep!

Nice Setup!
I love the bio pellet reactor but not in my budget for the forseeable future unfortunatly! Maybe in dream setup! But right now my next purchase will be the other 2 pendents and then a good controller! I had my friend over last week and he has been toying the idea of a saltwater tank after seeing my setup! He bought my old 125 gallon tank I practically gave him along with the stand and a small sump and canister filter! The canister filter leaked on him and made him nervous about saltwater but once he found the sump system was good enough for what he needed plus it does have a built in skimmer it's air powered but is good for the FOWLR he is planning on but he is looking into T5 HO lights so within a year he is going to be into a reef setup! LOL! When he was over I didn't have my laptop with me because I left it at work so I wasn't able to show him all the setups! I am going to help him get things up and running give him some of my rocks I have some in my tank now building up the bacteria! He has a little better start then I did I seen the live rock and I choose the ones that had some life on them mainly aptasia which I'm sure they were glad to get rid of!! With a tank as deep as mine it is hard to get the lower rocks to get rid of the aptasia so that is the only good thing about me losing my power and tank is that now I am aptasia free at last! I had some rock I left in storage for 3 months while I changed my tank to freshwater mainly to get rid of the die off it was easy to change water the I went back to saltwater and I couldn't believe it that I had aptasia that survived the onslought of stagnant water and at salt levels more towards brackish water and still survive! I am still on the hunt for those pesky things! Well leaving you a vote!

HI
My Thanksgiving was good, thanks for asking if I would like to buy your tank but I have two and that is enough for me. If you up grade take everything out of your tank and put it in your new one, thats what I did. You spent alot of money keep what you have. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I would maybe sell the tank, but I would not get rid of my coral. Any way have a great day and take care talk with you later.

Sorry!!
Wow that is rough but I guess that is to be expected in Las Vegas! What does everybody think about going to Vegas I know it's not picking up fish! LOL! Being a Truck driver maybe there are jobs in construction there shouldn't be any shortages of building projects there at least I would think plus that should be a local job as well! I don't blame you for not wanting to go back out OTR that is the one reason I did not go into driving! But I planned to go out and drive once the kids grew up! That way I could stay at home until they leave the nest! Also spend 20 years of my life fixing trucks and then spend another 10 years breaking them but those plans are through after having a stroke never pass the DOT physical! Well I hope you have a good weekend! It is going to be good once I can get friday over with! LOL!

Continued!
I sent that one off before I deleted it like I did last night! I did get a few coral frags to see if my tank is ready and it is going along better then I had before because now I am aptasia free at last and I hope to keep it that way because with a tank as big as mine it is impossible to get the ones at the bottom so it gets out of control quickly! I am not going to get anymore fish for now! I was thinking about keeping it a Fish only tank and get a big angelfish but now I got some coral so I will have to scrap that idea! My foxface and sailfin tang are doing a really good job at keeping the algea under control which is really good! I love the new light and can't wait until I get the other 2 but that is going to take time until I get the money up for that! I am waiting until the daylights come on and get some new photo's posted! Take care and I hope you do get a job that you love to do! Aquarium maintainance is a good goal to have because it is a job you love to do! It would be nice to get paid for what you love to do! Have you watched Tanked they are based in Las Vegas! Of course along with the other show I love Ghost Adventures! Well time to go and get some things done before the wife gets home from work! As always left you a vote!

I tried last night to blog to you but for some reason I kept hitting the control button instead of the shift button and wound up erasing the blog 2 times when I was almost done so I gave up last night! I have watched that show Gold Rush and I do like it but never as much as Deadliest Catch! I really feel bad now that Captian Phil has passed away! He brought home alot of things in my life as I had a stroke in February and right now I am on the mend! But it is always in the back of my mind of what happens if I have another one I might not be as lucky as I am now!

Hello agian!
How about IRT there roads must be open now! You would think there would be lots of jobs at Sin City! With 18+ years of Truck Driving it is hard to do another job! I thought about opening a pet store in my town then somebody did open one up and in 6 months they were evicted but they had no business selling pets! I went there when they first opened up but looked like most of the business was selling Puppy mill dogs and then most of the time they were not open during there posted hours! Then I seen a big change in that they had a new owner and they took it to extremes exotic pets including crocidiles did keep saltwater but looks like they had no clue as to how to take care of the fish! I am still thinking about opening one up but there is the one thing no money! Big stumbling block for sure! As far as the island theory goes I am up for Key West! and as cold as it is now it really looks like a good option! The tank is coming along so far the lights are excellent just need 2 more light pendants but that takes money! The fish are doing excellent so far! The Foxface has come out of hiding and now stays out in the open so no more plans on anymore fish at this point! But see how it goes taking things slow right now it was a huge upset when I had a huge die off from losing power! Well time to go to work I have some things to get done there before I can take it easy for Sunday! Take care and hope you find a job! here's a vote for you!

I did check out those sites you told me about and wow that is some good prices that's for sure! I should have sent that one site to my other email account but didn't I will try agian later but it does look interesting! Good luck getting that job! Hello!
It's been awhile how long do you stay out on the road? I have the weekend off agian and I took the dog out for a walk and found the coal train was split and was parked last night half in the middle of the town! I seen some activity this morning they had cranes and cars in an old siding I asked somebody and they told me that they could not open the chutes and they where going to put the car in the siding but the doors opened up and they didn't know it derailing 6 cars! This is going to be a mess and might put some truck drivers layed off! There is one power plant by us that has no direct rail to it so they took an old coal mine in town and turned it into a dump site and use alot of old coal miners retrianed as truck drivers when the mines shut down it was a win win situation for the coal miners! I just hope they get things fixed up quickly! I did get a frag of hard coral and the mushrooms need to be moved down in the tank! Really glad I went with the LED's No more slime algea growing any more! Well time to go it is going to be a nice and warm weekend! Here's a vote for you!

Thank You!
There is some jobs open with hauling coal and gas well drilling companies! Most of the coal mines in our area have shut down at least all of the union mines some progress considering it was the coal miners who paid with there lives in order to get the unions to protect them! Short term memories I guess! I will check out those websites. The one you sent me for the EcoTech was excellent just wish I had the money to get those ones but I am happy with what I got they have been excellent and yes not buying bulbs is a big plus! Plus the electric is a big plus especially with as big of a tank as I have! I wanted to be a truck driver and almost did it but I have done alright as an Technician and for the last 8 years as a diesel technician for Ford that 6.0 and 6.4 kept me really busy and still does! So far the 6.7 has been doing really good for us but I have heard of some engines being replaced but I can tell you we have sold alot more of the 6.7 then we ever did with the 6.4 engine! I choose the mushrooms because they are so hard to kill I know I got them from a Petco tank and they have been in there for a month and still very lively! I want to get into SPS coral but I feel the water parameters need to be better before I make that leap! I had a huge aptasia problem before and then a fight with the power company they wanted alot of money and I didn't have it so out went the lights! then I had the tank freshwater for over a month to get all the dead stuff out of the tank but then went back to saltwater just could not stay away! I just hope everything goes allright for me time will tell but I have been playing it slow in adding anything new! I had a huge problem with starfish those serpent starfish took over the tank and it is amazing how quickly they multiply every filter change I was having to remove 20 to 30 in each filter! well another vote 4 u!

Hello agian!
You do have some money in your setup! When my wife complain's I just remind her it could be worse! Thanks goes to you! I look at it this way I am a mechanic and I could be spending my money on an even costlier venture in building drag cars but I choose not to because I see enough of that during the day while my own car falls apart! LOL! As I was looking at fixtures I seen alot of really nice lights which is a high priority that's for sure but now most of my money is going to be in heating the house! I did put in some mushroom coral waiting to see if it starts to expand seeing as there is lots of empty spots for them! I am going through weekly water changes just to get my sysem back! I have city water drawn from a lake I do run RO water but I think it is getting close to time to change the filters! It's off to my weekly maintainance chores and water change! A vote as always!

Thursday Evening Hello!
Thanks so much for the info! I have no plans to do salt water at this time. I feel like I have my hands full with my fw tanks and enjoy them so much. Perhaps down the line I'll want to try my hand at it. I'll save the websites you recommended for later use. The sw tanks (like yours) are truly incredible...hats off to you! I just don't think I have fw down yet, ya know?

Lights up!
Updated the pictures but was not able to update the profile picture for some reason! I am very impressed with the amount of light out of just one pendent! It is lighting up the entire tank better the the CF's I had that's for sure! Rearranging my rock to go along with the light placement! Here's a vote 4 you!

Hello agian!
I went ahead and ordered the blue line's and I was amazed no sales tax yeah! I can only afford to get one right now I wish I could say I could get more but I have other bills to pay! I was looking at the aquaIlluminations SOL lights decided agianst them because it looks like I will need 2 lights per 24" to get the same effect as the blue lines! left a vote

Thanks for the info. I checked out LAfishguys. They have some awsome vids. I went by the local saltwater store. And they had a large flounder that had already been aclimated to saltwater. They said they had just gotten some stingrays also. But they sell as soon as they get them in. So they were already gone. I couldn't get a stingray anyways. They need at least 100 gallons. But he said they can handfeed the rays. Cool! The store owner said that the venturie in the skimmer had a light buildup on it. Probably from sitting up unused for a while. He said that if the sides were not smooth the bubbles would stick to the sides of the venturie. And then send them into the tank. V4u

Thank you so much for stopping by with congratulations for my surprise setup of the week win. It was so nice to log in on Monday and see my pond up there in the spotlight!

The fish are doing great and since we amazingly still haven't had a frost they're still pretty active and shamelessly begging for food whenever someone walks by.

How is it there? Cold yet? And yes, snow is probably just around the corner for us. Or perhaps in January.

Here's a vote for you and thanks again for stopping by.

P.S. Thank you so very much for voting for Eddie at www.doversaddleryphotocontest.com. I really appreciate your support! And if you have any friends who would be willing to help just tell them that Eddie is the 2nd photo on page 10 of the Black and White category.

Thank you!!!!!

It's Me agian
I wish the lights you bought were still at that price I would love it then I could get all 3 that I need! I don't know i those are just in house brand for that retailer but I checked the other sites out and could not find them. Since they are in PA I will have to pay sales tax as well! I don't get paid until Tuesday and I hope they are still the same price and in stock as well! I have a nice canopy 14" above the tank so that gives me lots of room to get the hieght just right if not adjustable would be just right! I want to go with the 300 watt one but I think it would be overkill plus it defeats the saving energy thing any way! What I had before was soft coral and using PC lights 4 96w on one side and 2 on the open area side and it was working ok and I was looking into 3 250 watt MH lights w T-5's but I would definetly need a chiller and there goes the electric agian! If I had a small tank I would run MH lights but it all adds up with a big tank! Goto go left you a vote!
