Sorry to hear about your problem! Glad you caught it and doing something about it! It is going to take time I hear a UV bulb might help keep it from coming back! I need to replace my UV light as well I use one of those internal UV lights and it does help! I need to put an inline one myself! All my big projects are going to have to wait until spring the light set me back in fishkeeping budget! Maybe i could leave out hints for christmas! lol! Left a vote 4 U! Ich...
Well I started out all wrong...used what I had, which was copper safe & had no idea it would kill my kuhlis! What DID work was Quick Cure (bought mine at Wal-Mart). First you need to remove the carbon from your filter. Add one drop of Quick Cure per gallon DAILY unless you have tetras (with tetras you only add 1 drop per 2 gallons daily). For Marine fish add 1 drop per gallon daily in a bare aquarium. Do this for three days. I also upped the heat slowly & left it up for several weeks (long after the ich was gone) just to be safe. I also added a second bubble stone during treatment. Replace carbon within 24 hours of last treatment.

Yucky ich...
I kicked myself in the bottom side for some time for not feeling like I treated the ich in my tank properly...I lost so many fish. I lost all my loaches but one...and was devastated. But you live and learn...you learn what works and if it ever were to happen again (which hopefully it doesn't!!) then you know what to do.

Ich is curable! You just have to weather the storm. Which treatment are you using? Are you turning the heat up & using salt? If it's very mild & you catch it in time, that's the way to go. When my tank got ich I started out all wrong...now I know that Quick Cure is the way to go. My tank had ich bad...I did Quick Cure & upped the heat too. Make sure you take the carbon out of your filter during treatment. People who don't understand us fish lovers will say things that hurt sometimes...I know cause my hubby and 2 daughters do not understand the love I have for my tanks/fish.

Oh no!!!!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your clown loach. :o( I know the feeling...I lost my clown and dojo loaches plus several fish with my first bout with ich. Thanks for your note! The ich stinks!! Had my first bout with it in one of my tanks not so long ago. It's actually what got me started on this site so guess it can't be so bad?! Yes...yes it can!
