I got an AFI subscription for free for ordering a zillion things from, stocked up on filter pads and bunches of other stuff over the winter. Nice I didn't have to use any of my FC points for it. I agree, the ads get annoying but since I don't pay for the mag, guess they need to get their money from somewhere. I am originally from Cali, but am now in NV and well, politicians have made me an atheist when it comes to them. I think none of them should get living allowances, travel perks etc etc and have to drive to and from their jobs buying their own gas like the rest of us, for starters. NFL, I am not sure how I feel about them anymore, used to really enjoy the game but now it's just whiners with big paychecks...and criminal records...wish they'd play like they used to! It is hard to go fish shopping around here, there are now only chainstores and none of those people have a clue. Sad indeed. Well, on a happy note, it's a long weekend, I've got 2 kids moving out, weather is still mild and pets and fish are all happy and healthy. Not to mention I'm about to enjoy some ME time and some room for my projects soon. All I need now is to win a fat lottery so I can get some BIG fish tanks HAHAHA. Well, hope you have an awesome weekend!

great pics
your main pic is really nice! Gorgeous fins you have, even the 'sculpted' eel hehe. Bigger tanks are my main goal now. Seems like bigger are so much easier to maintain too. Well, water changes are in order, better get them done while I'm thinking of it or next thing I know another day will pass and the fish will start protesting hehe.

Looking forward to seeing your new eel, make sure to let me know when you get it! I myself would like a fire or peacock eel someday, never had any eels before. My dragon goby is just too cool, the other day when I was feeding, he went backwards like the dolphins do, all up on his long tail and 'walked' back across the tank in his excitement. I think I'm going to start feeding him with a turkey baster so I can get it right to him better and see what else he'll come up with. He doesn't go very high up the tank, I doubt he'll ever jump but he's got some crazy moves sometimes. Never been to KY, been through TX and spend some time with family in Miss, and that was hot and humid enough. Grew up around Redding CA off and on, and yea, sure don't miss that heat. I'm a fan of the Bay Area and Crescent City, that's my kind of humidity, chilly and cool ocean breezes, aaaahhh. I'm drying up in this high desert!

So very sorry
about the eel. Will you get another? Hope everything else is going well. We're keeping busy around here but nothing unusual or too strenuous hehe. Hope you have a nice weekend planned.

my 2 cents !!
yes iam late at an answer for you but been busy as far as what kind of filter to use iam old fashion and use an aqua clear filter by hagen i like it because i can change the three stages myself with bulk items that i get and it has a sponge that you just rinse out the charcol i change myself with a bag i brought and reuse with a refill of bulk charcol and the bio section you dont do anything with because it has good bacteria that is its purpose so i find it is cost effective and i get plenty of coments on how clear the water is i like it and the only down side that i can think of is that the pump is external and if it leaks that could be a problem but i keep the gasket lubed and check it monthly to see how it is doing there are pumps that self prime but at the time i wanted as little inside the tank as possiable and liked the three stage setup it offers there you go good luck hope it helped the captain

You have some fantastic (fintastic?) fish! Wow! I used my points and got the Penguin wheel for my spazbees tank and I really like it, the bio-wheel I think makes a difference and the filter pad is a nice design with the carbon frame built in so there's not much maintenance there. I am a fan of the power filters and UGF combos mainly cuz that's all I've ever used and frankly, canister filters looks rather complicated and spendy to me. They do adjust a bit so you get more flow depending on need, and I usually get them bigger than the tank size, so my 20's have 30 gal rated ones and my 55 has a 60 or 75 rated, I forget which but it has 2 filters, and it really cranks along. It's a whisper too though. I would like to someday maybe switch them all to the bio wheel style, as it seems to give a bit of extra for those of us who are not completely great about keeping water changes on a set schedule...ahem...well, you know life is changing daily and sometimes plans are not executed in a timely manner, at least at this household! Oh, and the penguin has never bothered anyone here with noise. It's in the dining room and on a wood floor so there's not much in the way of sound dispersal but as long as I keep my tanks topped off, no one here has ever noticed and I've even had folks remark on how quiet the tanks seem. There's always pump noise anyway humming softly in the background but, no, never had an intrusive tank sound unless a piece of gravel or a snail gets caught in the motor area (rare but it happens) and you'll either wake up to or come home to an insane noise but easily fixed and again, I've never found them to be intrusive and have tanks in the living room, family room and dining room. Usually have one in a bedroom or two but got tired of smaller tanks, I'm trying to upsize as money will allow. Hope all this helps. Oh, and great avatar!
