Hi Again,
Thank you so much for the SOTW vote on Chocolate Delight! I have been fine - working two days this week on the days I have to drive the 25 miles into town for PT Therapy anyway. Wrist is healing and I have been given the OK to type with both hands now but to stop if my left gets tires or begins to burn. Plan to skip water changes this week-end except for small changes on the 29 and 5. My 50 has enough plants to filter and the fish are all small - I will just keep an eye on my rummynose tetra as they are the canary in the mines with those red noses :) Oh I left votes! just so you know I leave a vote when ever I blog.Come visit me, Chocolate Delight, Dwarf Rasbora Delight & Angelfish Surprise.

Hi, back at ya.
Yes, I had this tank going nicely 3yrs back. But had to broad at an inlaws for a year while my new house built so I'm starting over. I have more plants ordered so it will come togather someday.Come visit me, Getting restarted.

Hello
Thanks for stoping buy and liking my planted aquarium. At the time this picture was taken. I was doing the DIY Co2. Now I use a Co2 tank with a Co2 regulator which is far more better.Come visit me, To fish in love, Tropical Retreat, Aquatic Adventures Plants totally out of control, Aquatic Engineer, Planted aquarium, Big fish, King of the planted aqauriums & New Home.

I live in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula between Moose Pass and Seward on the highway. Our house (we built it:) sits between the highway and Trail River - so yes, we can walk to the river from our back yard. The water from our Well is very soft with a PH of 6.6 - 6.8 , KH 2-3, GH 120ppm and no nitrates. So that is why I refer to my 50 gal fish as rainwater fish because I have fish that thrive in it. Because the KH of our well water is low I do 50% water changes weekly to replace what little buffer I have - rather then add suppliments. It works fine.
So to answer your question I don't use real rainwater ;)
I would be careful using rainwater depending on where you live and where you would you collect it from such as roofs - picking up metal and what have you along the way. Also, if you keep fish that prefer hard water such as any livebearers or African Cichlids they would not like it.
