You know some times you just never find out why you lose a fish. If the tests were all within normal range and no other fish stressed them out it could of been the loss of air exchange. If that indeed did happen I would of thought they would of been more at the top of the tank and not the bottom. In a 5 Gallon it wouldn't take long to stress and kill fish if you didn't have any air exchange for a extended period !

Hi - Thanks for stopping by as always ! As far as the loss of 2 of your bottom feeders. It could be a whole host of problems. Obviously you should test your water and make sure non of your parameters are out of whack. Ammonia, nitrites, PH, etc etc. It doesn't take long to spike one of those and some fish are a whole bunch less tolerant than other types. If all parameters are in check then you should look for signs of infection, parasites etc etc. And the last thing could be sudden channges in temperature, water parameters ( salinity, PH) etc etc. AND sometimes you just never find out what happened.
