1 - my electric yellows are now breeding as well! I'm not sure how many babies i have; at least 4!
1 - I now have 1 adult Auratus female(the mama) 1 young male just getting his blue on and 4 young females plus possible new babies!

Lighting: 2x 24" Florescents

Filtration: 3x 65 gallon wishper external filters

Invertebrates: 20 large "golden ghost snails"

Other Accessories: Lots of rock work, fake plants and artificial hollow logs and a few pieces of two toned driftwood also have 1 part coral gravel 3 parts natural and black gravel--All of my cichlids are babies i finally decided to stop fighting my hard water so i traded my Congos and Columbian tetras plus about 10 Cories in to try out africans. My favorite aquarium store really let me down though, its a very reliable(and exspensive) specialty store, anyway they told me Auratus and electric yellows where compatiable!! Now i have to work on making a divider for my 100 before the Auratus take their toll! I've never kept malawis, i thought they were all tough. I'm really disappointed in myself that i didn't research my fish. I knew i wanted the yellows and I was just looking for something to go with them but now i've really fallen for the Auratus. The three "unknowns" are closely related to the Auratus but i'm pretty sure i've got two males and a female. I'm in love with them too!! They're really pretty, red with orange outlining their fins, lots of egg spots and kind of a purplish tint to their sides. The two that I think are males have horizontal stripes also.I've recently added a big piece of Java fern from my 20 gallon planted tank. I just found out its a plant my cichlids won't eat.
