Thanks for the congrats! He is a tiny thing, but he is fast. He makes up for his lack of size that's for sure. My daughter used to be big into softball until her fibermylgia side lined her for good. Her body is more important than any sport she plays as a teenager! But I sure miss it!

Hi Sam
Good to hear from you. I personally don't know anything about breeding tangs and have never had any since my tank is too small but I did look around a bit for you. This is what I found that may answer your question: : Why have we not been able to breed Tangs?

I have tried searching for an answer to this and nothing has turned up. i am willing to find out any (no matter how scientific) information on attempts/theories, etc. Thank you.

Well, the problem with tangs and many other marine fish is that they have a planctonic phase. Their fry are so small at hatching that water takes on qualities of a solid object and unless food is very abundant and their water isn't perfect they just don't live. The seas are very stable and they can't take rapid temp fluctuation,ph drops etc. Their fry is so small that they can become stuck in the surface tension of your tank water. As far as I know they usually won't even breed in captivity in the wild they also tend to breed in large schools of fish ,"100's of individuals" when the moon phase and tides are correct.

There are other marine fish like mandrin gobies that breed regularly in tanks. To my knowledge none of the fry have ever made it much more than a week or two. A lot of the issues comes down to the fact that no one really knows what the fry need in order to survive and they are so fragile that an impact with the glass from your power head can kill them. It's even worse for most types of larval inverts.
Hope that helps you. A vote!

I am feeling better. It was a very busy day today. My son started an all-star baseball tournament last night. Today we had two games, and in between we went to the community theater's children's production of Grease, it was great, Just tiring for me! Take care!

Hi Sam!
So what kind of cichlid is the one that is very colorful by the yellow one in your main pic? It reminds me of the christmas furu or fulu (can't remember what it is) that my son has. I never noticed it in the picture until this trip to your page! Anyway, here is another vote for you!

Hi Sam
Nah, I don't find saltwaterfish all that difficult. I just get hardy ones. I have a damselfish that has survived every crash the tanks has had. He's been in the tank since the very beginning. Too bad he grew up to be a real jerk. He was so cute when he was a juvenile but turned into a drab colored nasty fish. There will be no tears when he passes to the great fish beyond. He'll probably outlive me though, lol. Have a good one!

Thank you so much! So are your rocks ones that you collected yourself or are they ones that were bought? Your tank is absolutely beautiful! Have you ever heard of a Christmas Furu or Fulu, can't remember which it is. I bought my son a few of those and they are absolutely beautiful! Take care, hope your weekend is a good one!

Hey Sam
I love the powder blue tangs too but my tank is too small. I could get a small one but I'd have to relocate it to a larger home in no time. I'd get attached so I'll leave it alone. That's pretty impressive that you got your fish to breed already in three months! You've got a magic touch. Take care, a vote for you.

Looks like a great tank! I don't have any cichlids (except for some angelfish), but I like the yellow ones you have.
