We got two land hermit crabs. We have them in an aquarium with sand,driftwood and fresh water and food shallow dishes. We feed them flakes. They seem to be doing great, any other tips or advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks and left a vote. Take care, byeCome visit me, oceanview & Oceanview2.

Hey for me when the babies are born i first just put them into a breeding cage or net. I dont feed them until the day after they are born. You can buy like the baby food formula for them to like grow faster, but i just use normal tropical flakes but i just crush it into tiny pieces. Feed the fry 2 a day a little at a time. Release them when they are not able to be swallowed by the adult fish or attacked by the adult fish.Come visit me, Angus4God.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to not buy brand new!!!! Craigslist (although there are some crazy people out there, you have to be careful), has great deals all the time. Bigger Tank
Honey I have done this for years. I will tell you the bigger the tank, yes it costs more for filtration etc, but the less owrk there is involved!!! I used to do an entire fish room with a hand siphon and carry the water, I finally broke down and bought one that hooks to the sink and it is so much nicer! REally saves time. Depending on how old you are she may not trust that you will be the one to do the work. We moms kinda get rooked into things sometimes with promises of her children to take care of them, and it soon fizzles so I do understand. As an educator I will tell you that it is an educational thing to do, and a few months ago I felt so good when my daughter was writing an essay to get into a select vet camp and put in there that the fact that mom has let her have so many different pets over the years has helped her to choose the career she wants to focus on. I think of the hamster cages, guinea pig cages, bunny cages, lizard (ok I didn't clean the lizard I was too scared of it), fish tanks, cats, dogs and realize that because of all the work I did with her, she wants to be a doctor! Pretty good feeling! But you should never drain your entire tank (if that is what you are doing) only about 10-15% a week is necessary.
