Hey Kerry
I'm worried about you! I hope you're okay and my thoughts are with you. I haven't been having much luck with my tank lately. I had a thermometer that was about 10 degrees higher than what it was reading. I think I actually ended up cooking some of the corals. I thought they were dying just due to a nitrate and phosphate spike. Been fighting with my damsel fish too. He's making a mess out of the tank. I shake my finger at him and he shakes his fins and tail at me and actually throws snails at me sometimes. If I was an evil person, into the fry pan with him! He's lucky I'm a softie. You take care and I'm thinking of you.

Hi Kerry
Came by to leave you a vote. Thinking of you. I've been battling nitrates and phosphates in my tank lately. My own fault too because I was slacking in my water tests. Hope all is okay with you.

Howdy friend
Checking in on you. How are you, Kerry and fish tanks doing? I've had issues. My darned damsel cause a rock slide due to his digging in the sand. He was making himself a superhighway around the tank. It took me a long time to get the rocks piled back up in a stable manner. Now the fish is so mad at me because his highway is detoured. He shakes his tail and fins at me in a very threatening manner. It's pretty funny. He'll stare me down too. He gets so mad he tosses snails around too. I think he squished my blenny in the slide too because I haven't seen it since. I hope you're okay and sending you a vote.

Hi Kerry
How are you? I've been rather lazy about blogging with nothing much to say due to nothing much to do, lol. Just waiting out winter. I went to the dentist last week and both the dentist and the hygenist thought they felt something on the left side of my neck So I had an ultrasound and now I have a small 8mm nodule on my thyroid. Can ya believe it? Seems like every time someone touches me they find something. I'm getting a bit discouraged about going to doctors Bad enough I've got to work with them, lol. So now I have to go to a thyroid nodule clinic in March I'd never heard of such a thing. I guess they've got a clinic for everything. I hope you're doing well and your pains have subsided. I think of you often my friend. Take care.

Hi Agian
I'm back he really couldn't hold it any longer now he is a happy dog. I'm glad to hear that you are just letting nature take it's course I know it is expensive live rock but I have had lots of feather dusters growing so I left it alone. Of coarse I don't have that much invested in coral and they can get expensive. It looks like you have more invested in your corals than I do thats for sure. I have so much room I am looking for the tank to grow and fill itself. You have done the opposite and looks like you started with coral and then added fish. You have done good with the amount of space you have. I hope that the New year brings you alot of happiness and enjoyment with all of your creatures. My son is suppossed to bring a Kitten this weekend hopefully it will make it without going outside I have a retirement apartment accross the street and we found out why we were losing our cats they were taking them home thinking they were strays. at least they went to a home and not parishing from traffic. the street we are on is not that busy. We shall see how this cat will be.

So sorry to hear Kerry has been under the weather. Morgan also had a bad breathing problem and we spent all day friday at the vet with her. They had her in an oxygen ICU tank for most of the day. They didn't want to do anything without having an anesthesia machine available for backup. So we spent the day staring at her staring at us. It was like having a baby in the hospital. We eventually were discharged with bronchdilator and a nebulizer machine. We have to close her in a tote 3 times a day and pipe the gas in. I think she has residual lung problems from the disease she had. Prayers for Kerry and her. I also was having internet problems but it's now solved. Have a great new year. I'm certianly looking forward to a better year next year!

Hey Kerry how is it going.
How are your tanks doing? Did you take down your other salt tank or do you just not have it posted anymore?

I had a question. Im thinking about putting a tang into my 20 gallon tank (a Yellow tang, mimic tang, or a convict tang) and it has been recommended by the shop i go through that it would be okay. i know that you have a blue tang in your 25 gallon setup so i wanted to see how a bigger fish does in a smaller setup before i go and buy one. how big is your blue tang and how old? thank you very much for any information you can offer. have a vote for a wonderful tank. check out my new pictures of both my tanks. which reminds me, do you know how to change the profile picture? i havent been able to figure that one out, thanks.

Hate hearing about a corals demise unfortunatly it happens. I had a brain coral that I bought pretty much was given to me because it only had around 20% that was alive. I moved it to the top of the rocks to see if my lighting was good enough to keep it alive it was actually doin alright but the fish would keep knocking it off and finally it died. I left it in the tank because that is the natural cycle of life on the reef the new corals build on the old skeletons I was rewarded because underneath of it is a white sponge that is growing and doing quite well. The others I knocked off usualy had something growing on them like feather worms so I just left them in the tank. but then agian with a 125 gallon tank it allot to fill up so I can use all the rocks I can get over time they will all build into live rock. I do suppliment the tank with kalkwater top offs and daily I use Kent Marine essentials and CoralVite along with Iodine and strontium at full recomended doses I also use the kent liqiud calcium at a small dose. That coraline algea really grows like wild on the shells I put in for the hermit crabs so I found a supply of bleached corals and I have been using them in the tank and it doesn't take long for the coraline algea to grow. I also have used it to attach trimings from my leather coral which has overgrown it's attachment. I don't have any sea stars in my tank but sounds like they reproduce fairly good hope they all survive for you. sending you a vote.

Thank You
Thanks for the compliments, You have alot to be proud of with your tank a 25 gallon with a good selection of corals and fish and such pretty colors. Most of my corals are brown I have lots of red coraline algea. The price of the tank was not that expensive but yes it is alot of wieght and I have wooden floors I go down regularly to check on the floors to make sure all is well. plus that it is impossible to move that's for sure. You have done an excellent job with the space you have to work in. Vote for you sorry I have to go for now and get back to work.

I thought your name was Kerry. It's the cat? I'm all confused now. Now that's alot of blogs you answered. It must have taken all day. I hope you cut and pasted most of them! I would have had a massive headache after that. Congrats on COTD by the way! Hey that rhymes. Went to Martha's Vineyard to my brother's for Thanksgiving. Only problem is there are no leftovers! We were actually able to squeeze 12 people at the table. My mother lives next door so it was an easy commute for her. We had to go over on the ferry. They put us up on the lift deck which was a first for us. You drive up a ramp and then it lifts an levels out. Then more cars get loaded underneath. I was afraid it would get stuck in the upright position, lol. I think I may make our own turkey tommorrow if I can find a small one. Take care, talk later

Hi Kerry
Hope you're feeling okay. Too bad about your kitty and what you're going through. Bad enough that you're not well yourself and you have to nurse the cat. I"ve got another you can have too. A one eyed smelly retarded 18 year old cat that's been run over twice. Her name is Carmela but we call her Stinky Winky. She was dumped on us by Jack's son when he moved to Boston. She's such a pain in the butt, always doing new things to aggravate us. Her new thing is going inti the entertainment center and knocking everything onto the floor then sleeping in there. Grrrrrr. I think she'll outlive us. I'll send her to you if you'd like, lol. Take care my friend. Be well. I'm off to see the surgeon tommorrow for a consult. Yay.

Hey Kerry
Thought I'd visit your pretty reef tank tonight. I heard about those fires. It sounds scary so I’m sure you’ve got a lot on your plate there. Glad your fishes survived. I bought a bubbler/aerator that only works if senses that there’s no electric in the outlet. I bought it a few months ago and have no clue if it works cuz the electric hasn’t gone out since then. I guess that’s a good thing but it would be too late to take it back now if it didn’t work hehe! I’ll have to turn off the breakers or something to see if it works. Take care. <>< Jen

Hi Kerry
I would say the fish load is fine. All that's in that 24g is the biter, a blenny and a dragonet. I just think he's a territorial fish. He pushes the dragonlet away with his head. He actually headbutts the thing but the dragonlet could care less. I went for a follow-up mammogram yesterday and now they want to take another chunk out of me. I have to meet with the surgeon week after next. How long has your FOU been going on? That's got to be so frustrating not to have answers. I'm pulling for you my friend. Take it easy.

Hi Kerry
Nice to hear from you and once again I'm sorry for all your troubles. Please don't fret over answering back, I just want you to get better! I used the Joe's juice on the aiptasia and it seemed to work quite well. They're gone. You use a syringe and squirt the stuff in the mouths like you're feeding them. I pretty much covered them with the stuff and they shriveled right up. The clownfish kept attacking me while I was trying to do it and driving me crazy! His little teeth hurt. I got sick of his nonsense and netted him. I dangled the net in the top corner of the tank and resumed my business. I was so involved with the syringe that I bumped the net and it and fish went flying. Thank god it landed on the couch instead of behind it because there would be no retrieving him. He was lying totally still on the couch and I said to him "you're not so tough right now are ya?". Then I grabbed him and tossed him back in. No harm done and he didn't learn a thing from that episode. He still bites. You think he'd hide when a big old hand came into the tank. Little monster. Well wishes my friend and of course I won't forget you.

I will try to send each of my friends an individual blog but in case I don't get to you, thought I would put a note on each tank. My doctors have ordered complete rest and a bunch of tests over the next several days. This includes staying stress free and I was really stressing out trying to keep up with blogs here and on CC. So, I won't be on line until Wed or Thursday. I will come on to feed the equarium because I hate it when those guys die and to congratulate the next SOTW but no blogging for now. Please don't forget I will be back!!!! ....Kerry

Hi Kerry
Boy there's lots of birdie attitude today!! She's hopping up and down, weaving back and forth at a fast speed, yelling and talking like her good ole obnoxious self. It's lovely to see. I think everyone's good wishes are doing her well for sure. The power of positive thinking! And my missing fish which I presumed to be dead showed up today. I wonder what it's been doing the past few days. I always see all of them everyday. It's turned out to be a good day. We actually had work to do at work today. It's been painfully slow lately and we've been a bit concerned about our jobs. Guess they'll keep us a bit longer now. Well my friend, here's to a good tommorrow also!
