Hi Rick! How's the summer going, so far for you? Mine could be better but, I can't complain too much, as summers past have been much worse! Unfortunately, despite all of your GREATLY APPRECIATED efforts and votes, I didn’t get TOP SET-UP. But that’s alright, because, I think it’s just awesome that you and others put in the effort to get me “SOTW”; and I thank each and every one of those people that did vote for me! I have been working at the “new” facility that EB has acquired and is setting up to be the Engineering & Design Facility. It’s a modern design building with very few straight walls and halls in the place, and the biggest pain is the 6-7 minute walk from the parking garage to the desk. The food in the Café is good but, it’s not cheap either and it’s about halfway between the garage and the desk. I’m led to believe that the folks running the cafeteria are done at the end of August, and then we’ll probably get some other caterer in there that puts out lesser quality food for about the same cost. (Ya just can’t win!) As for my feet, they are holding their own. I went to see a physical therapist twice a week for about 3-4 months and she was able to work wonders with them in getting the swelling from the lymphedema to go down. She taught my wife & I how to do the massage ourselves and (so far) my feet haven’t blown up like they were (knock on wood on that one!) My insurance will only pay for 40 massage therapy visits per year, regardless of how many occurrences. So, I have left myself a few for the remainder of the year, just in case things get out of control again and I need to see the therapist again. My right knee has been giving me problems again. I tore cartilage in it when I played football in High School. It is now arthritic, and rubbing bone on bone with calcium deposits building up creating range of motion problems. I spoke with a doctor about it in April and he told me I was a good candidate for a knee joint replacement. Nothing I ‘m looking forward to but, it might be a real good thing! I’ve spoken with several folks that have had it done or know of someone who has, and everyone has had positive things to say about a knee replacement. We have been getting in some riding time this year also and my wife loves riding her own bike. As a matter of fact, we are going out tonight to see a local favorite band play at a local beer joint in Westerly, RI (about 10-15 min away). I’m going to close for now, and I’ll try to keep in touch more often! |
