Yup, we brackish gotta stick together, it's a small group we're in! Bumblebee gobies do sorta pair up, but I've never sexed them, (I call all my fish 'he' anyway) but in groups they will pair off on their own, as well as develop an interesting pecking order with their bulldoggish ways, and as long as there are plenty of spaces for them to claim as territory (shells, caves, etc) they will be ever so entertaining. One of my books says you can keep 20 of them in a 10 gallon! I've never gone that extreme, but as my tanks get changed around (my brackish 20 is only a temp tank, everything will get upgraded to a 55 hopefully later this year or early next) and I think I'll get about 10 or 12 for that new world. The dragon goby and the bees never bother each other, guess they know the secret goby handshake. I did notice mollies bugging all of them so got rid of the mollies, and all the ghost shrimp I've had are still breeding and going strong, thought maybe the dragon would eat them but nope, he leaves them alone. There are lots of other fins that do great in the brackish water as well, like guppies, endlers live bearers, Celebes rainbow fish (had some, really want more!), glass fish (NOT glass catfish!) freshwater flounder, empire gudgeon, purple neon tetra, diamond killifish,Black Banded Poecilia, and those creepy but cool looking Singapore Flower shrimp. Ok, those are some off my future wish list, but yea, with a bit of effort and care in adapting, there is a great variety of fins that will live longer in the saltier water. Ok, enough lecture, I've got things to do today besides sit and do more fish wish listing...try to say that 3x fast hehe. |
