howdy thanks! lots of others on here have more knowledge, but in my experience, the ottos would do a better job. plecos become quite lazy as they get bigger and produce much more waste. if you can get ottos that are in good shape i think you will be much happier with the work they do. even some of the other chinese algae eaters too. good luck. let me know what you do. take care. leaving some votes, Kay
