Hi Goldie:)
And welcome to FC! I see you haven't been here long and you couldn't have found a better place for finding friends :). I like both your sets and I love the color of your fancy goldfish.

I don't know what your winters are like - how much it might freeze into the ground but two things I think of right off is you might want to consider making your pond buried for better insulation (less exposed - I partially buried mine for that reason). And maybe you can do a winter test without fish in the pond during that time using the heater and check it frequently. Not sure depending one the Heater if it could withstand it during that cold spell. Maybe a livestock type heater made for keeping it ice free....?

30 gal may not be deep enough as well say if you had koi or goldfish out there in the winter.

Another thought regarding the 90 degree temps in summer. Why not get a fountain to keep water movement and/or aeration? I am thinking of one made by Tetra that is for smaller ponds and has several fountain heads :)

In my neck of the woods I definitely could not keep fish out and only my flag iris, moss and some grasses survived being sunk and insulated in snow and ice during our winter.

Hope this helps. Leaving you votes!

Kathy
